    Xbox One Media Remote & YouTube App


    Hello. I've noticed that the navigational buttons on the official remote only work under the following conditions: 1) instant-on mode is used, or 2) you use the remote to operate YouTube before an Xbox controller is used. For example, if
    I have the console set to energy-saving, turn the console on and use any Xbox controller first, the media remote will not function in YouTube; even if the controller is turned off. The only solution is to restart the console. If I use instant-on, it seems
    to be fine.

    Is there this a known issue, and does anyone know of a fix other than restarting the console? I prefer to use energy-saving mode. Thanks.

    The media remote is not currently compatible with every app. As stated on its official support page, not every 3rd party app currently supports it. It sounds like YouTube is one of them. You'll have to wait on an update to the YouTube app to support remote
    compatibility.

    It's not just a lack of support for the Xbox One Media Remote. I have a Logitech Harmony Remote that works with the Xbox One and it also doesn't work with the YouTube App. The only device that seems to work with the YouTube app is the controller. It's a
    shame since the Xbox One Media Remote works really well in other apps like Twitch,Crackle and Machinama.

    YouTube app bug - controller use only??

    I notice YouTube had a update a few days ago and after the update the media remote no longer controlled the screen. I also prefer to use the media remote for all functions except gaming. I am highly disappointed that the YouTube app can not be controlled
    by the media controller. I am trying to use the Xbox one as a entertainment center and part time gaming and this is one more strike against the entertainment function, In entertainment mode I REFUSE to use the huge odd shaped game controller.
