Xbox one media remote volume not working

Hi,

i have an xbox media remote from my original Xbox one a i purchased a few years ago. I purchased a Xbox one Scropio edition last year and we cant get the volume to work from the media remote. If i use the remote on the older console on the same tv it works
fine. Every other button works and functions fine when using remote on Scorpio console. Double checked all tv settings within the console and the TV is programmed correctly.

My son has a Scorpio edition as well with media remote and he is having the same issue

No, it's not a universal remote: (www.xbox.com/.../media-remote)

The remote controls TV/receiver power and volume through Kinect, or an IR extender cable (cable not included).

You need Kinect or IR Extenders.

Does any one have any problems with the Xbox One Media Remote? All the functions on the remote work except for volume.

its a first party Microsoft remote. I did request a call back yesterday and unfortunately the rep asked me to send my console in for repair. I dont think the console is the problem. Thanks for replying with the link, i tried utilizing the troubleshooting
and it did not help the issue.

unfortunately the posts regarding the issue did not help. Also noticed the volume control will not work from the Xbox smartglass app either.

This is a microsoft product.
