Xbox One Media Remote issue

It seems that after the most recent console update the media remote is not able to turn off the console by holding down the Xbox button for 3 seconds. The snap button seems to only bring up the manage app screen also. Anyone else have or know about this
issue?

The only thing you would have an issue with is the Xbox media remote, if you use one of those. It seems to require line of sight to the console for Xbox functions - which is a bit meh, though it can still control other devices through Kinect.

Could adding an IR Sensor solve the issue of the media remote? Im moving my xbox into a data cabinet in my hallway but love using the media remote

Nezziah,

Since the update, have you tried power cycling your console by holding the power button for 10 seconds or until the console turns off, then boot it back up, and retry the media remote to see if that fixes the problem.

No I didn't try that, but i just did. Unfortunately still not working right. Only thing it does now is bring you to the dash(like it did before the option you mentioned). I appreciate the potential fix thou.

Heads up owners of Xbox Media One Remote! If all of a sudden your option does not appear to shut down the console while holding down the Xbox button and all else works fine....its your batteries. Long story shorter here. I haven't had this remote very long
and most remote batteries(duracell, in this case) last for many months. Well falling asleep with it on your bed many a night was clearly causing the light to go on and off draining the batteries that much faster. Odd that it still functioned otherwise except
the power down option. FYI
