Xbox one Media Remote interfering with other things in my room

Hi guys. I've just bought an official Media Remote for my xbox one, and it's a lovely bit of kit but unfortunately I have a strange problem with it. I have two sets of LED lights that are operated with two separate remote controls in my room, and for some
reason the xbox one media remote is controlling them?! For example, If I'm on the home screen and I try and navigate with the d-pad on the media remote, every left, right, up or down press changes the mode/colour on both sets of lights in my room?! It doesn't
do this with the control pad though? I would have thought the media remote and the control pad communicate with the xbox in the same way, but the media remote must use a different signal somehow? It's definitely the actual media remote that's causing the problem
and not the signal being relayed from the Kinect. If I say "xbox volume up" for example, and it sends a signal to my amp to turn the volume up, my LED lights don't get affected. But if I press the volume up button on the media remote, both sets of LED lights
change their mode/colour. As you can imagine, this is REALLY annoying and kinda ruins the whole experience. I highly doubt there is going to be any way around it, but thought I'd post a message to make sure just incase.

    Thanks

    Simon

    :)

Help with media remote. TV & Xbox in different rooms.

My television is wall mounted and my xbox one is on the other side of the wall. I purchased the xbox one media remote thinking it would work fine through Bluetooth (as the game controller works), come to find out the media remote works through IR. So i picked
up an IR extension cable, connected it to the xbox, and ran the cord through the wall under the television. However that also is not working. I have tested the remote, pointing it directly at the xbox one in the other room, clicking around and confirmed the
    remote does in fact work.

Is their something I am missing, or is their no way to use the media remote unless the xbox and television are in the same room?

    Thanks for any help.

    Hello,

The Xbox One Media Remote uses a infrared (IR) transmitter, which is fairly common in television remotes and it's probably the same technology used to control your LED lights which is the problem your running into.

The Xbox One controller users a different technology which is why you don't have that problem with the controller as you do with the media remote.

IR requires a straight line to the console in order to control it, so you essentially need to move the LED lights IR module away from the console so when you attempt to use the media remote, the LED lights don't detect it. I'm not sure if this is a feasible
option but that's probably your only option.

Xbox One Media Remote Volume Problems

    Some more information:

If I remove my Sony soundbar from my device list on my One, the Media Remote controls the TV volume flawlessly. It also controls the cable box flawlessly. So it's some sort of issue with the soundbar.

Smart Glass works great and my soundbar turns on and off with my system without fail, so I know the IR blaster works and is set properly for it.

But when I try and specifically control me soundbar with my media remote, it only works in strange places in the room. Within 5 feet or past 15, or up against the wall in front of the receiver.

It sounds like the Kinect IR signals are being interfered with somehow by the remote IR signals..

Several factory restores after accessory purchases

Here's the latest on this. After days of troubleshooting over twitter with support, I was able to get the remote to work on the console in another room on a different tv. I then brought it back to my living room tv and set it back up and nothing again. It
will work if I turn the console 90 degrees to the right but since the remote needs direct line of sight this is of no help. My question at this point is what could interfere with the xbox media remote that uses IR tech but with no other remote in my living
room including a wii u controller to operate volume, a tv remote, and an Apple TV remote? I get that there is interference but why with a single remote out of 4 in the room?

    IR Extender or Repeater Question

No, not in the way I need. The Kinect does push IR signal to other devices, but it wont accept a signal from the remote to push to the One. I thought it was at first too, but it is not according to Microsofts XBOX One Media Remote Page. See the "Using
    The Media Remote" here: http://support.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-one/accessories/xbox-one-media-remote-info#a9c721fbfb30407aaf1cfdb82bad46f8
