1. XBox One Media Remote and IR Extender Cable

I have an Xbox One media remote and the IR extender cable. My xbox is not connected to my cable. I have not been able to get the IR extender cable to respond when using the remote (pointed directly at it). Most of the buttons on the remote work except for
volume, mute and channel (which i wouldn't need). I have tried to sync the device to my TV (Samsung) but it has not worked. I have entered codes manually and automatically. Does anyone else have this issue or a solution?

:)

2. xbox one media remote control tv volume WITHOUT Kinect ... possible?

No, it's not a universal remote: (www.xbox.com/.../media-remote)

The remote controls TV/receiver power and volume through Kinect, or an IR extender cable (cable not included).

You need Kinect or IR Extenders.

Media Remote and Xbox One

Good question! While Smart Glass and Kinect are excellent products, I encourage Microsoft to extend the Xbox Ecosystem with physically tangible Microsoft brand devices. For example, provide infrared IR support for the existing Xbox 360 Media Remote, and/or
offer a Xbox One Media Remote.

Can the Media Remote control my audio receiver WITHOUT a Kinect?

Hey there T Destroy3r!

It is possible to use your Xbox One Media Remote with your Xbox One console without having a Kinect. In order to control volume on your receiver you will need to have an IR blaster that connects via 3.5 mm cable and has 3 or fewer emitters. For more info,
check out our Xbox One Media Remote and IR Extension Cable support
articles.

Hope that helps! :D

How do I use IR Port in back?

Does the xbox IR port repeat any remote I point at the kinect? My xbox one is at front of room (as there is no 40ft kinect extension cable). The rest of my equipment is in a closet, it includes items not controllable via xbox. Can I plug an IR extender
cable into the IR output port and use tho kinect to receive IR signals and send them to the closet?

xbox one's tv abilities?
On the back of the Xbox One there is a small port labeled IR. It is probably a port for an IR blaster; a small device that duplicates signals sent from your Infrared remote control. So your Xbox will handle changing the channels on your play device. All
I can tell at the moment is that you have to have a device that processes and out-puts a signal via HDMI, and is handled by a infrared remote.

I'm just wondering myself if the Xbox One will still support Windows Media Center the way that the 360 does. See with ...Media Center you can actually DVR to your primary PC and play your media to any extender device on your home network, including Xbox
360.
this is what i am wondering as well. I already have a great setup with an hdhomerun prime (cable card), windows media center and my xbox 360.

The last thing i want to do is to go get another cable box or pay MSFT for IPTV. IR blaster or HDMI-CEC control of a cable box would be archaic compared to my current setup.
