  1. Xbox One media player won't recognise my Hard Drive.

I had a couple of 1TB hard drives full of movies and Music and stuff so I bought a 4TB seagate Expansion which I had read online was good with Xboxs. I transfered all the files onto my new hard drive but when I plug it in it looks like it has worked to start
with. I get a little pop up saying it has recognised a media storage but when I select it it says no files found. I have tried every option I can think of.

I went into the power and start up options and selected to always detect hard drives.

    I tried changing the cable.

I checked that the hard drive is formatted to NTFS

I plugged it into my laptop and all the files are there working correctly.

Plugged my old hard drives in and they work fine.

I don't want to format it for games and apps. Just want to use it as a media device.

    Any ideas?

    :)

External Hard Drive not recognised at all

    Hi,

i have an external hard drive with movies on that I always used to use on my XB1 via the media player with no problems, since the latest update it won't recognise the drive at all.

    Any ideas?

  5. Like ClassicalEagle suggested, try to format it. But do it on the Xbox One, and when asked for the type of content choose Media.

Once done, connect to drive to your PC and add content to it.

Re-plug it on your XB1 and check if it works.

    Cheers

I'm having a similar issue, except the 2 HDD's that I use to watch movies through the media app have been recognised and have worked fine for over a year. All of a sudden neither are recognised by the app. The HDD's work fine through TV's PC's etc. just
    not on my Xbone.

When I insert one of the drives, I get a notification that an external device is ready hold home button to launch. But when I enter the media app nothing is listed.

Nothing has changed on my HDD and I've had no updates for the Xbone. That I know of anyway.

    Any help would be appreciated

  7. It doesn't give you an option to format it for media. It says Format for games and Apps. If you click on that it gives you a warning saying this will only work for games and apps. Press cancel if you intent yo use this for media.

If you need help with your Hard drive check out the support page
Troubleshoot external storage detection on Xbox One
I followed the guide on that link but it didn't help my problem the device is recognised it's on the list but when I go into media player or even pick it from the list in settings it comes up no device recognised in media player

Xbox one Console suddenly not seeing External drives, even brand new backup console.

Similar problem; I have a hard drive enclosure with two drives RAIDed for media and one formatted for games; since the latest update the games drive mounts fine but the media drive is invisible. Tried all ports, different cables, power cycled everything: no change. The media drive mounts absolutely fine on all my other devices, it's just the XBox One that doesn't recognise it

    Hard Drive Help!

When you say you bought a new one, was it a hard drive similar to your old one, or one of the newer model hard drives. If it was one of the newer model hard drives, then that is why it wont work. The older model xbox 360's won't recognise them.

New external hard drive recognized for media - won't format for games and apps.

Hey guys, so I originally bought an external hard drive to store movies and tv shows on for my mac. That worked great and I plugged it into my xbox 1 and used the media player app to watch them. That worked great as well. Then I found out I could format
the hard drive for games and apps to store games on there. So I did that, but now I want to go back to the media player to watch my movies and it won't recognize the hard drive. My mac now won't recognize it either. Did I lose all my movies and tv shows? Thanks
    for any help !
