Xbox One Media Player no longer 'sees' laptop

I've been using the Media Player app to stream movies from my laptop wirelessly for months now, and all of a sudden it no longer recognizes my laptop. All I get is the 'No Devices Found' nonsense.

Before this happened I had trouble actually playing videos for about a week, would play for about 10 seconds then randomly pause, and would just pause every few seconds for no reason.

But now it doesn't even recognise the laptop at all.

Yes, I have restarted both my One and my laptop. Have reinstalled the app, and everything is working on my laptop. Only thing that's changed on my laptop is I've downloaded the latest Windows 7 'updates', though they seem to have downgraded more than anything.

Would it be too much to ask that Microsoft, oh, I don't know....actually test
these things before they ship them out the door?

    :)

I returned from vacation and plugged in my 1TB external harddrive (WD Passport Wireless) and the X1 media player says there are no files on the drive. I purchased a new 3.0 cable and have the same issue. I plugged the drive into my computer and all files
are there as expected. I also plugged in a different media drive and it works just fine. I noticed there were two system updates but don't see a correlation. I have been using this setup for the last 5 months without issue. Would much prefer to not reformat
due to the drive containing over 700GB

Any others having this problem or have found a solution?

XBOX ONE Media Player no longer finds music on network

Corrected when trying to stream music on my XBOX One from my PC using media player app, I do this because playlists are also playable, the music files are no longer found. Video files and picture files are still able to be streamed. I am wondering since
the add of music to onedrive and xbox music did they remove the ability to stream music with media player. on another note the media player on the One is awful compared the players on the 360.
