Xbox One March 5, 2014 update not working with DISH Hopper receiver

Ever since we downloaded the update for the Xbox One that was released March 5th, 2014, our DISH Hopper receiver will not work properly. A TV show will freeze like it's stuck and then when it starts again, it jumps ahead as if it had been playing the entire
time. It is happening with both live TV and DVR'd shows that have never had problems in the past. It happens about every minute or two, so there is no way to watch anything at all. It started happening as soon as we did the Xbox One update and it had never
done it before. The Hopper receiver is the problem, but the two Joeys that are linked to this receiver in other rooms are working fine. The Hopper receiver is the only one connected through the Xbox One for viewing the TV. How can we fix this? And if we
can't fix this, is there a way to undo the update and go back to the way it was before? Do we need to look into NOT having the TV route through the Xbox One and if we do that, what functionality will we lose? Thanks for your help.

    :)

  2. HDMI pass-through when Xbox One is OFF

I managed to get Live TV to work with the Xbox One and my Dish Network Hopper. It is beautiful.

Unfortunately, now I can't get the Hopper to work with the Xbox turned OFF (since my wife will not watch TV through the Xbox).

Is there a way to diagnose why HDMI pass-through is not working when the Xbox is turned off?

Here are more details about my current setup:

    • Connections:
    • Dish Network Hopper connected to Xbox One through HDMI (to the HDMI IN port)
    • Xbox One connected to my AV receiver through HDMI (using the HDMI OUT port on the Xbox One)
    • AV Receiver (Sony STRDN100) connected to TV (Samsung (UN55C6800) using HDMI
    • What works:
    • Xbox works fine playing games
    • Xbox works fine watching live Dish Network TV using the Xbox TV interface (coming from the Hopper)
    • What doesn't:
    • Watching live Dish Network TV using the Hopper directly when the Xbox is switched off
    Thanks!

  3. Xbox One with Dish Hopper

So I am suppose to hook my Dish Hopper into my Xbox One. Right now, all my devices plug into my AV Receiver. If I plug my Dish Hopper into my Xbox One, By doing this, is it possible then for me to watch/access my hopper when not using the xbox box 1? If
it's plugged into the xbox one, how would I only use the hopper and access my DVR?

This has nothing to do with the Xbox One. It's merely a pass through device. All it does is let the TV signal from your Hopper pass through it and displays it on your TV.

Sounds to me like you have a faulty Hard Drive in your Hopper. Have you tried resetting your Hopper?

I didn't think it had anything to do with the Xbox One either at first because just like you said it should just be a pass through, but since we have a Hopper and two Joeys, they share the same Hard Drive from the main Hopper. If it was the Hard Drive,
then I would imagine that the other two TVs connected by the Joeys would also be having difficulties. They are both fine. Also, it started happening as soon as we downloaded the Xbox One update on 3/5. To me, that seems to point to something with the Xbox
    One.

Yes, I did reset the Hopper and I also unplugged it from the wall for 10 minutes which did not help either. I'm at a loss for what to do next.

Have you plugged your HDMI straight into your TV/Receiver to bypass the XB1 and see if you can replicate the problem?

I have the same exact problem. This is not a Hopper issue, this is a X1 issue. Not using the pass-through fixes the problem immediately. This issue needs to be resolved by Microsoft, there are complaints all over the web.

Yep. Not a Hopper issue. My DISH works fine now that we don't have the XBox One connected through it. It definitely was an issue that stemmed from that last Xbox One update. It's a nightmare having it set up without the pass-through. We use the XBox One
way less. I hope they fix it soon!

  10. Not sure what the issue you are having, but I have the Hopper as well, and I have none of those issues. Everything works flawlessly.

This is an issue that has come down upon me as well. I initially thought it was a Hopper issue an had a tech from Dish come out twice on separate dates to replace my Hopper, this worked at first. The problem went away for a few days to a week but quickly
came back again. With every replacement the issue returned. I did some trouble shooting and noticed every time pulled the HDMI and pulled straight in the tv the problem was completely gone.

Why is Microsoft not addressing this issue? If they expect the XBOX ONE to be utilized as promised then this needs to be fixed. This is an XBOX ONE pass through issue not a Dish Hopper or operator error!

  13. Xbox One March 5, 2014 update not working with DISH Hopper receiver

Got my new Dish Hopper in the mail yesterday and was able to watch TV through the Xbox One for 2 minutes before it froze and then jumped ahead. My old Hopper and new Hopper work great when connected directly to the TV. Neither one works when I run them
through the Xbox One. Any ideas would be appreciated.
