Xbox One making clicking noises, game freezes soon after

Hi,

Increasingly regularly I am experiencing clicking noises from my Xbox One console. The noise has a very regular pattern, "click click, click click, click click click" every time it occurs. And when it occurs, I know the game will crash/freeze/stop loading
within 1-2 minutes and the system will need to be forced shutdown.

When it occurred today (I was playing a digital copy of Diablo 3 UEE), force shutting down later it wouldn't turn on again. The power button light will come on, but the screen is blank.

The increasing regularity of this is making me not want to play with it too often because it is frustrating to be kicked out of my game, and it can't be right that my console is making this noise on random days and requires force shutting down.

I have only bought this console less than 2 months ago and don't play it a lot.

Any idea what the problem is and what the solution should be, please? Many thanks.

Xbox One making clicking noise

About a few days ago my Xbox has been making this awful clicking noise whenever turned on (does it sometimes when turned off) and it causes the Xbox to lag and the load time has extremely increased. A message will pop up every now and the saying "xbox home
(or settings) has taken too long to load" and will sometimes just turn itself off. But mainly it takes forever for it to do anything such as load games, open apps, or something as simple as opening the setting menu. It will sometimes, rarely, stop making the
noise and work fine. any advice? Thanks!

Xbox one making squealing noise

My Xbox one is making a loud squealing noise and then it will freeze. The noise does not stop till i physically unplug it. It used to only happen once in a while but not it happens 3 minutes after being turned on.

 

Unfortunately this sounds like a faulty harddrive as this clicking noise is a typical sound for this problem. This would also explain the crashing of the game shortly after the sound appears.

So this means you urgently need your console to be serviced by Microsoft to have the faulty drive replaced.

Before sending your console in you should remove your profile from it.

 

I suspected this also, but was in denial. Can't believe my dumb luck... will try and send it in ASAP. Hope it doesn't take long and I'll get to keep my saves (esp. for Diablo 3)!

Your save games are secured in the cloud so they will be resynchronized as soon as you start the game on the repaired console.

I've sent off my request for service, so guess in the meanwhile while waiting for the shipping box from MS to arrive, I'll try and turn it on somehow and wipe the system clean.
