Xbox One makes popping/crackling sounds when installing something.

I don't understand why but when you install something the system just slows down quite a bit and I have these audio issues. After the install has finished suddenly the console is speedy again and the audio issues have gone :\

Try installing a big game and then move side to side on the dashboard really fast to test it out yourself.

Audio Crackling has made a return with the most recent update.

Hi guys,

I had the same problem. Crackling sounds, occasional sound skipping.

Seems the problem occurs only when xbox is downloading or installing something, so when you pause all downloads and installing in Queue the problem instantly stops. Maybe the xbox just doesnt have the power the handle the multitasking.

I recommend that you try a full system restart by performing a power cycle. To do this, hold down the power button on your console for 8 seconds. If the issue is still present after doing this well, it must be a unique issue that only you are having. Sorry,
I don't have much help beyond that as I've never encountered a problem like this. I'm sure others have the same problem as you and might be able to help.

I've had 5 Xbox One's and they all do the same thing, just like how they all have very loud fans that constantly make a clicking sound. I sent my last Xbox One back 3 times for replacement and every single one did the same thing. So I gave up, sold it on
eBay and months later I bought a new one because I miss Xbox Fitness and it's the same story :\

Why can't Microsoft just get hardware right for once? I remember going through 2 360s and I barely played that console.

I actually have to turn HDMI audio OFF completely and use stereo uncompressed under digital optical just to get my 5.1 surround sound to not "pop/crackle" when navigating menus/playing games. That "pop/crackling" was driving me nuts the system doesnt "pop/crackle"
when set to just TV but nor does my surround system "pop/crackle" when connected to my TV/Xbox 360. Never done that before...did MS cheap out on the audio system for their "all in one" media box or is this an isolated incident with my 2008 phillips surround

Hello when I first got my launch Xbox One in 2013 I noticed that I'd get random pops and crackles through the audio when playing games.

It is most noticeable when editing video clips you have and when you save the clip the audio chime makes a nasty crackle when the clip is saved.

Anyway a replacement Xbox later and a few updates on the audio glitch seems to have gone. Until now. There is once again random pops and crackles when playing games. Not enough to ruin the experience, but it is there and can be distracting.

Any advice as to how to trouble shoot this? I have tried many different sound options in settings and done hard resets but t no avail.

Goto settings goto video and sound. Goto Godeo fidelity and overscan. Choose 30 bits per pixel (10bit). It solved my issues

I have been having a similar problem with audio pops and crackles.

When I have my Xbox One connected to my TV with an HDMI cable and my surround sound receiver plugged into my TVs optical out port the audio pops and crackles (only from the Xbox One, not from any other audio source going into my TV and out to the receiver.)
Yet if I plug my receiver directly into the Xbox's optical port the audio plays normally with no distortion whatsoever. I even tried replacing the HDMI cord but got no results that had no popping or crackling in the audio. Hence leading me to believe that
the HDMI port on the Xbox one is having trouble sending audio to the TV through its HDMI cord as I even tested each of my 4 HDMI in ports on my gaming TV and my living room TV that achieved the same exact popping and crackling audio issues.
