    Xbox one - Lost half of my offline saved data after console and game update


    I play only story mode. I went offline at about halfway through game and never bothered to be online again till today. Console was saving my latest progress on hard drive I guess so I was fine. Just today I went online. First thing, xbox console wanted to
    do 1.2GB of updates, and I can't avoided that otherwise it won't let me in, so I let that happen. Next, MGS 5 itslef wanted to do another 3.4G update, same story - it was mandatory to proceed so i let that happen to. Now when I started game it loaded my saved
    game data but instead of being at mission 45, I am back to 30 now! Looks like xbox console or game loaded my saved data from the time when I was last online and completely disregarded the fact that I have much latest saved data on my local disk. Looks like
    It freaking overridden my latest saved data from disk. How stupid is this!

    I know when I'm online, saved data goes to disk as well as cloud. when I'm offline it only goes to disk. but at any given time it should load The Latest data! not from cloud.

    Halo 2 Game Saves

    Just resumed play after work but am getting a message saying "Syncing Data for Halo Master Chief Collection" followed by "Unable to retrieve latest save game data. Try again or continue offline."

    If I continue offline, all my cross-game achievement progress will be lost won't it?

    Hi there,

    it should at least give you a prompt of which game data you want to continue with, at least that is my experience when local and cloud data is different.

    The only thing you can try is the see what happens if you go offline and start the game, but if that loads the mission 30 one, then I'm afraid nothing can be done other continue with that save game.

    I can understand that something like this can be very annoying.

    Have you tried removing your account from the Xbox then signing back in. This can for a resync on your game data cloud data.

    I'm having the same issues. Accepted the latest NXOE last night and when I got back online I was having the "save data" sync issues. I deleted my profile and did a hard reset. When I got back online it said that I have no friends and zero gamerscore.
    My background was reset and my xbox console colors as well. Every game I try to play just says it cannot retrieve my data. If I select "use offline" it works but one of my games lost all save content. I believe the game was Kickbeat. I select "use offline"
    but my entire game save is reset. I tried a few other games like GTA and Warframe and selected "use offline". The save content is still there for those games. When I go to manage storage not one of my games shows a game save on the console. It shows "reserved
    space", but no actual game save. The game saves were there before the latest NXOE update I took last night. I did not try factory resetting my console just yet. I have a few friends with the same issues that I am having right now. Every app and game just
    does not want to sync the data.
