How to Configure and test your Xbox 360 wireless Internet connection

After you have connected the Xbox 360 Wireless Connecting Adapter to your original Xbox 360 console, you have to configure and test the wireless connection.

    Steps to Follow

    1. On your controller, press the Guide button and proceed to Settings, then choose System Settings.

    2. Go to Network Settings then select the name of your wireless network.

Note: If you do not find your wireless network, go to Advanced Options and then select Specify Unlisted Network. Proceed to enter the name of your wireless network, after which you will be asked to select the security type.

    3. Enter your wireless network password.

    4. You will get a prompt to update your console software. Select Yes.

    Still Not Connecting?

If you get a connection error message after these steps, you should try using the Xbox LIVE Connection Solution to fix the problem.

If your wireless network is not listed in Step 2 above, you can read about how to Improve Xbox Live Speed.

I've started getting the DC's as well. I'm not holding out any hope for this right now. They still haven't fixed the controller issues, disc drives or anything else yet. Blame it on a plug strip? Poor quality control and they have no idea how to fix
    it

This has also been happening to me.

Definitely interested in other peoples solutions.

Semi-regularly the Xbox loses wifi network connection and refuses to reconnect.

When this happens and I turn the console off it won't turn off the tv and the light on the front of the Xbox One doesn't stop flashing.

It seems to hang and doesn't finish it's shut down procedure.

The only solution so far has been removing the power. Waiting. And then plugging it in again.

It's not a destiny issue, it's an xbox issue. Mine has done this the last 2 nights. It will first disconnect me from my game, with some random bs server/host error, and then say I've been disconnected from live. When I click in my gamertag to reconnect,
nothing happens. So I check the network and it tells me to set up a wireless network. And every time I try it tells me that my my password is incorrect or that the network is. The first night I power cycled my modem and router only to find that my Internet
was fine when I opened my laptop. It's kinda frustrating.

  7. Hi, I've been having the same problem but I didn't know other people did as well until I came here today.

I play Destiny most of the time as well so I'm not sure if it's specifically related to Destiny or not as I haven't experienced this with other games.

I'll be in the middle of an activity when it will notify me of being disconnected from my wifi. It detects my network but when I enter in my passkey it says it's incorrect even though it is and every other device in my home can connect without a problem
and using the same key. The only way I can reconnect is to do a hard reset (hold power button for ten seconds) but it's still irritating as I don't even know when it will happen again.

I'm always doing PvP when it happens.

In response to "the A O D's" question above, I did a factory reset two days ago but it happenned again yesterday.

    Yeah, this started with me yesterday. I was in the middle of a multiplayer match on Destiny and it lost my connection. Restarting the XBox and the router were not successful in getting the XBox back online. I guess I didn't actually hard boot the XBox, though;
I'll have to try that when I get home from work.

Oddly, it won't connect to ANY network right now. I've got a repeater router that I normally connect to and my primary network, both of which it can see. Both have the same password and it won't connect to either at the moment. Other devices connect to both
networks without issue so I'm positive it's an issue with the XBox and not my networks.

I've been talking with support both on Xbox.com and on Twitter. Zero help. They seem to be totally in denial about this being anything other than an issue with our connections. I don't even think this is a hardware issue. In my mind, it clearly is something
inside the last system update causing this issue. System updates, once downloaded, can't be removed from the XBox One. And, if you choose to not download it, you can't play on XBox Live or interact with your friends. This is ridiculous. I'm at a loss.

Tried switching my gateway to bridge mode based on advice on another topic. Still nothing. Very hesitant of trying to connect directly to the gateway. The problem definitely cropped up after the last update, and I'm pretty sure that "boosting" the controller
connection times probably gimped the chips allocated wifi power somehow. Who knows. Was working fine before update, now broken.

  11. Guys, I am getting disconnected as well since the last update but I have always used a wired connection - no wifi. I get disconnected from the game server, go back to home screen and it takes just a few seconds for the console to reconnect again by itself.
This is really annoying. I have noticed that it happens when my ping loses only two packets. Does anyone have any fix? I appreciate any help.

  12. I have this problem all... the... time...

I play Destiny, get the weasel error, am disconnected from my wireless and have to unplug the Xbox One to get back online.

Like most of you, if I go to the wireless settings before unplugging, it says my password is wrong.

    It's frustrating.

Same issues as people on here. Happens once every month. Hard reset fixes it but frustrating.

This just started happening to me yesterday, while playing Destiny. Both times I was booted by an error code, would be told I needed to be connected to XBL to play, would dash out and I'd be disconnected from XBL, signed out of my profile and my wifi forgotten.
Both times I've had to unplug the XB1 for a few minutes to get it to allow me to resign onto my wifi, to sign on tomy profile to connnect to XBL. Whichever update did this it needs to be fixed asap.

  15. I am also having the same problems as described above. Glad to know im not the only one but so aggravated that xbox is pushing it under the rug. Clearly something is wrong. They need to address any issue that many are having. I have stayed a true supporter
but this one is pushing me away from your product. Please help us and your community.
