    Xbox one Live Gold Account for a family


    Hi

    We have 3 children each with an Xbox one in their rooms.

    We have 4 profiles - 1 main profile which Xbox Live Gold, and all the digital games purchased are linked to, which we then share to the 3 other profiles to save buying 3 copies of the same game.

    We keep experiencing difficulty in all 3 of them managing to game on line at the same time and game chat to their friends/join a party etc, particularly with one of the children wanting to play red dead redemption 2 where they seemingly need to be signed
    in to their xbox with both the main profile and their profile at the same time.

    I've figured out that the children seem to have to individually sign in with the main profile 1, then sign in with their profile and launch a game, then sign out of main profile 1 so that one of the other children can then repeat the process, and then the
    3rd child can do the same.

    Sounds ok, and I think seems to work for a short while, but then all hell breaks loose and one of the kids are complaining they've been kicked out of their game, and chaos ensues as they try to sign back in with the main profile, which then in turn kicks
    everyone else out of their games.

    I'm never sure why someone gets kicked out in the first place, and with the 3 xboxes being in different rooms, I cant see and watch what's happening and being displayed at the same time, so spend most of my time getting wound up and frustrated which isn't
    good for family stress levels

    I'm not the best at understanding terminology when it comes to this and seem to go round and round in circles when I'm searching forums, so if someone could spell it out in plain simple terms that would be great

    Have we got our set up wrong, do I actually need to buy 3 Xbox live accounts, or is it something to do with particular games and how they are licenced?

    A: When an individual is added to an Xbox LIVE Gold Family Pack, that person’s Xbox LIVE account must be on the same console as the primary account holder. However, once they are a part of your Xbox LIVE Gold Family Pack, that person could recover their
    account on a different console and still remain a part of the Family Pack, as long as they reside in the same country as the primary account holder.

    Do you gave an Xbox One? If so, all you have to do is have one account with Xbox Live Gold and all the other accounts on that same console will automatically have Xbox Live Gold as well. Family subscriptions were replaces with "Xbox Live Home Gold".

    Given that all the accounts attached to the xbl gold family pack would have been extended by at least 3 months each, i think with the new xbox home you will only need to pay for one xbox live gold unless all the accounts are on different consoles. I could
    be wrong but I think that if the accounts are on the same Xbox ONE console, then it will allow you to buy the one xbox live gold membership and that will be cheaper than the family gold membership in the long run.
