Xbox One Left Analog Stick Drifting Up

Hello,

So, it seems I am yet another victim of the dreaded left stick drift curse. Is there really nothing that can be done if your console is out of warranty? That to me seems quite ridiculous. I had Xbox 360 for YEARS and it never done this and my Xbox one is
a little over a year old and now it is making games unplayable. I seriously think Microsoft needs to think about recalling these faulty controllers and issuing ones of higher quality. Paying $60 for another controller is ridiculous. Forcing me to open up a
controller and follow some instructions from a youtuber is ridiculous. As a longtime xbox customer, since original xbox, this is gravely disappointing.

For reference: it happens everywhere. In game. In game menus. At home screen. In Netflix. It happens when controller is idle and even when I am only using right thumbstick. It has grown worse over time.

Controller Drifting

I have 2 Elites drifting to the right from the left analog stick.

I bought a brand new slim 360 recently and the left analog stick of the controller is drifting. Example, if I walk around in Borderlands and let go of the left analog stick, my character slowly turns to the left until I push the left stick to the right and
when I let go, it drifts to the left again. Every game has this problem. I tried new batteries, same problem. I sync'd the controller to another 360 at my friends house (old elite model), same drifting problem. The controller is bad. A search on Google shows
lots of other people complaining of the exact same problem.

Since I'm within 90 days, think MS will replace my controller for free?

Anyone else seen this problem? No idea why Google has tons of hits for my problem and I can't find a single post on this board about it?!
