Xbox One Kinect

Scorpio is totally a new gen, especially if it launches with VR support included. If so, its a completely backwards compatible new system. like buying a new PC and using your old keyboard and mouse. I'm a Microsoft fan all the way, have loved every xbox,
even with their faults. I guess in the end, I just have to hope that the money I have invested in the experience is a piece of why we continue to get (mostly) great games and exclusives.

 

So here's my stupid question...

Does the new Xbox One S even have a place where a kinect connects? I haven't seen anywhere even say a kinect can be connected to it... or either I'm just kwazy... lol

 

There is a USB 3.0 adapter for the kinect. They will have a free adapter program. Anyone with an existing kinect serial number can enter into a website for a free adapter if upgrading to a s model.

 

^ Well that pretty much confirms what we all already knew. The kinect is dead.

 

^Maybe....but they are still supporting it. My guess is, with the reduced size of the slim, plus packing in the power supply in a smaller sized box, there was no room on the board for that big boxy kinect connector...

I am so glad I am not the only person who sees this. The Xbox "One" Scorpio is definitely a 9th Generation of Video Game Consoles.

MS can play word salad all they want but the truth is simply, the Scorpio is the beginning of the 9th Generation of Video Game Consoles and is simply Backward Compatible by default with the current Generation (8th) and the current Generation of Xbox One will
have Forward Compatible Ports via Software with the Scorpio.

It will be only a matter of time before MS drops Support for the Xbox One all together (8th) and only provides new Software for the Scorpio (9th).

 

It's actually not all that surprising. There were only four years between the original Xbox and the Xbox 360. The Scorpio will be arriving four years after the release of the Xbox One. I actually really hope they change the name...Scorpio sounds awful. I
am eager to see what they price the "Scorpio" at.

 

I am hoping it's gets a new life with the Hololens and VR. Scorpio (nice codename, let's hope they keep it unlike Project Spartan) will have VR support, hence the hefty processing and gpu increase. So having a linear used with it for room scale be and scanning
of the person into be would be amazing.

Personally, I think this sort of thing g was the aim, but they ruined it by taking it out of the Xbox bundle. If it were in there, people would create for it. But as an optional? No chance. U less its required like the PlayStation camera for VR.
