xbox one Kinect

I can't believe Vampirella just said that horrible four letter word, I am disgusted.

I find the controller much faster. The controller does what I want it to do.

30 minutes ago I went through my normal morning routine of "Xbox On". Six attempts and I pick up the controller is my rule...most mornings I pick up the controller.

Today it was "watch CMT" and I went to TBS and then to Bravo, third time was a charm and finally got to CMT.

Having a phone conversation in the same room with your Kinect is loads of fun. Gone are the days of me being able to watch TV or play a game while semi ignoring the person I'm on the phone with.

My experience is in line with many of my family, friends and co-workers with Ones so I'm not unique, we've come to the conclusion it must be our Calif accents.

 

Cheers guys am finding the features just as quick without kinect on.and everything works well

No mate that's my point i only used Kinect very little But am so use to using the controller.

 

You shouldn't sell kinect

First maybe one day you will find the use of it and secondly,if one day you sell your Xbox one,it might be easier to sell it with everything in the box (controller,cables,Xbox,Kinect)

 

Ill never sell the xbox one

One question will stuff still be captured example a great save will that still record.

 

I thought I did not use the kinect that much until I went back to my 360 for a weekend to play some BF4 with a buddy... no record that... had to pick up the remote to change inputs to see something on TV.. the volume up.. it gets so streamlined that if you
take the sensor away.. you end up saying... wow.. I do use it more than I thought

 

Yes, you can sell your Kinect (I thought that would be obvious), but I would not recommend it. Besides, once you unplug it, doesn't it still show that little annoying "Your Kinect is unplugged message" or did they fix that?

In any case, in regards to the Kinect voice commands vs. the controller, whichever is faster is entirely dependent on the context of what you're trying to do & how you're trying to do it. For example, telling your console to start a game may be faster with
the voice command (especially if you're in a separate room away from the controller), but doing something while using multiple voice commands, like checking your messages, isn't.

 

Personally I never thought I would use the kinect when I got my X1. While I don't use it much in games, the ability to easily navigate the console using voice commands has been great. I know some have said that it doesn't work well but I seriously have not
had a problem. Every now and then if I yell xbox record that in my excitement it might miss it but when I calm down and say it properly, it works every time. I can see that some don't see value in it but in my opinion it's a great addition to the console.

 

I would advise against it. We don't know what could come down the lines that requires Kinect to use. Imagine a game that scans you and puts you as the main character (farfetched I know) but still, I would put it away and keep hold of it. 'Just in case'.

It aint hurting anything if you put it away, I went for a month without mine. You just never know what the future hold for it..... could be something big coming... my 2 cents...

 

I had the kinect on the 360 and never used the thing except for drunk dance central parties... The new kinect is so integrated into everything on the X1 that I couldn't imagine not having it now. It's just so much easier to navigate the UI and get to where
you want to go w/o having to even pick up a remote or controller for anything. Including the TV, cable box, or receiver remotes.. Hell the thing can even adjust the volume faster then the remote when you are playing a game.. As far as the previous person
stated that he can't have a phone conversation is ridiculous.. And if it's not understanding you then it's not calibrated properly.

When it says in the setup be as quiet as possible don't.. turn on the A/C, Microwave and water. Then when it says put the music up as loud as you listen, don't... turn up the receiver so loud that the kinect tells you it's too loud, then turn it down just
enough so you don't get the message.. If you do that the sensor will never have a problem understanding anything you say...

 

I'm with Fred. I had Kinect on the 360 and all it did was sit there on top of my TV staring at me begging me to play with it. Pretty useless in my book.

However with the xbox one I can't imagine my console without it. If they never do another thing with Kinect, voice commands alone make it more than worth it to me.
