  2. .. If sensitivity is an issue, they can add some sort of on/off command. Same as XBOX SELECT, XBOX STOP LISTENTING... well for Kinect, it can be KINECT SELECT, KINECT STOP WATCHING.
    - But then, you're simply using voice commands to start a process that you likely could finish using them anyway... for the most part.

Or, to turn on kinect, hold up your hand with a flat palm, to turn it off, hold up two hands with flat palms.
    - That's pretty much what we do now... and we don't have to 'turn it off'.

"Having to hold up your hand with a flat palm toward the Kinect may seem like an inconvenience and obtrusive, but I'd rather it be that way than to have it constantly doing things I don't want..."

But then, it will never be anything but a cool trick to showoff to people, but truly and honestly, we never use it when we're "REALLY" doing things. The remote and voice is always better. So yeah, if they can give us
an on / off command, that would solve the sensitivity issue. - Not sure I understand fully what you mean by "we never use it when we're "REALLY" doing things...

The problem with making the Kinect work much like swiping a phone or tablet is that it's easy to use touch screen technology and have a high degree of accuracy and reliability.
Unless something is terribly wrong, your phone/tablet is highly sensitive (and you can even adjust that on some) to touch and very accurate in interpreting where you're touching. Teaching a camera to 'see' and interpret commands is adding a 3rd dimension,
(depth) while simultaneously taking away a sensory input ability (touch). In that aspect, it isn't even in the same ballpark as far as complexity is concerned. Really, what it becomes capable of depends on how much R&D they do.

  3. A Blue Illusion, what I mean by "really" do things is every day use. For example, if I'm watching TV and I decide to switch to Netflix. I have the choice of standing up and doing the Macarena, or simply use my remote. LOL! As is right now, I don't use it.
I've demonstrated it to people to show off the technology, but that's it. It's not practical for real world use. I guess what I'm asking for is many years away. You're right, it depends on R&D.

  4. Xbox One Kinect Technology & possible future improvements....

So, just for kicks, I decided to try some gestures while reading this thread on the IE app. While reclining in my fold-up camping chair with my feet propped up in front of me on the table set in front of the TV, console, and Kinect I was able to easily signal
that I wanted to use gestures by holding up my hand and then scroll up and down this thread's pages by making a grabbing and pulling (up and down) gesture - it worked flawlessly. The ONLY problem is that my arm started to get tired from holding it up, which
may be a good thing because that's basically exercising the muscles in my arm. Xbox One Kinect Technology & possible future improvements.... ;)

^^lol, but they can get tired and your controller won't.

I changed my region just to try out voice commands and they worked flawlessly. I actually might get some use out of the Kinect.

I was being too stubborn because I didn't think I should have too. It should be available here, but I hear they are working on it.

It's possible now. The way the gesture controls were done was based off of many of the movements you've described.
