    Xbox One Kinect Software issue


    I have been having issues with my Kinect and it turns off randomly and when I go to Setting > Kinect, I don't see the usual Kinect options like "Kinect On" or use Kinect as a microphone option either. The only way to fix this is to unplug the Kinect and
    plug it back in. Note that both my Kinect and console is up to date. This issue basically started right after the March console update. Something is crashing the Kinect software and this is an inconveniences

    Does having the Kinect unplugged make the XB1 run faster?

    Hello "KevinElektro" Xbox One Kinect Software issue :)

    Unplugging the Kinect with the $500 Xbox One doesn't make it more powerful because my guess is that unlocking that extra power would be more of a software issue, not hardware a issue.

    Kinect not working

    Same issue here. I have a Day One edition, so its out of warranty now. Microsoft wants $69 to fix what is likely a software issue. Nothing i found online fixes the issue either. I think for me, my kinect as disconnected during an update and now the console
    wont recognize the kinect.

    Sorry to hear about the Kinect issue! I recommend checking out our Kinect Troubleshooter page to see if there are any steps you have not tried yet. I also would
    try these following steps below:

    • Unplug the Kinect sensor from the Xbox One console.
    • Press and hold the power button on the Xbox One console for 10 seconds, or until the unit is fully powered off.
    • Unplug the power supply from the back of the Xbox One console and let it sit for 5 minutes.
    • Plug the Kinect sensor and power cable back into the Xbox One console and power on.
    If the issue persists after following the two suggestions above, your Kinect sensor may need to be repaired. To begin that process, visit our Online Service center page.

    I have had the same issue. I cannot turn my kinect "on" because its missing that option under the kinect tab. I have tried everything in every article.

    Will a "Kinect for Windows V2" work on an Xbox One S with the included adapter?

    Thank you for coming to the Xbox forums. I'd be happy to answer that.

    Unfortunately the Kinect for Windows v2 will not work when plugged into an Xbox One console. It was designed to work with Kinect software for Windows intended for developers that is not present on an Xbox One console, even if using the adapter. The Kinect
    for Xbox One is functionally the same as the Kinect for Windows v2 and can work on Windows with an adapter because the Kinect for Windows v2 does not come with the included software and you have to download this software online from

    here    , so the Kinect for Xbox One can use the same software on a Windows PC but not vice versa.

    Seeing as how there's a good amount of us with perfectly functioning Xbox Ones and "unplugged" Kinects that were working earlier I'm betting this is a software issue. Somewhere along the line something decided not to read the Kinect as being connected. Or
    the Kinects themselves are the problem.
