xbox one kinect power down issue detected

I've been noticing that my kinect sensor has not been powering down when I send a shutdown command to the system when i am done using it, the sensor stays on and the xbox logo still illuminates on the sensor itself, there is no need for a repair as for unplugging
it will likely fix this issue however i'd like to know why can this be? is there an issue? will another system update fix this? is there need for repair? < probably most unlikely. feedback will be greatly appreciated...

    :)

XBox One - Power Down Issue

Hey there Excalibur! Let's see what we can do to get things sorted.

To start off, I suggest giving these shut down options a try:

    • Use the "Xbox, Turn Off" voice command.
    • Press and hold the Home button on your controller.
    • Press the power button on your console.
    • Press and hold the power button on your console for 5-10 seconds until the console powers off.

Let us know how those go and whether or not you're able to power your console off without issues. We'll be satnding by to hear back from you! ^_^

Xbox Skype Kinect camera being used by another application

Make very sure you're in the right USB port if you have an Xbox One without a dedicated Kinect port (like an Xbox One S or Xbox One X)!

The Kinect--even though it has a power adapter--needs consistent voltage in its USB connection too, and only the USB port on the Xbox labeled "Kinect" provides it (that's the port closest to the HDMI I believe.) A POWERED USB hub may work too.

But... plugging the Kinect into one of the other two USB ports--or a non-powered USB hub--will cause problems -- either a warning to plug it in the right port... or intermittent connection issues... or a failure to be detected at all.

Xbox On/ Xbox Turn Off does not power on off the television

    Short story:

Let Xbox auto-detect, then reboot the console. (Power the Xbox One off by holding the power button for 5 seconds. Wait 60 seconds and then power it back on.)

    Long story:

    (A) I let Xbox detect my TV automatically, which allowed me to control volume/mute by voice, but failed to power on/off devices.

    (B) After enabling the settings to turn on and turn off the TV and cable box, it turned devices off with the Kinect command "Xbox Turn Off". But, it failed to turn the devices on with "Xbox On".

    (C) Settings/TV and OneGuide would not load and gave me a time-out error code (too lazy to write it down).

    (D) I rebooted the system by powering down (holding power button for 5 secs).

    (D) When I powered up, everything powers on/off properly. (I have some issues with the cable box, not sure if it's line-of-sight problem.)

My TV is a Sanyo DP46841 and the remote code is T1362.

Two Issue Kinect and Messages Disappearing

    Hey SenseiMoro!

I just added the role for you to access and post in the Preview Program Support forum, go ahead and post over there to request to have the code resent.

As for the Kinect issue, let's start with these steps below!

    • Press and hold the power button on your Xbox One console for 10 seconds, or until the unit fully powers down.
    • Once the device is powered down, unplug the Kinect and the power cable from the Xbox One console for 5 minutes.
    • After the 5 minutes are up, plug both the Kinect sensor and the power supply back into the Xbox One console and see if the issue persists!
If the Kinect issue persists, please post back and let us know so we can dig a little deeper! Hope you get that invite back soon! :)

i think my Kinect is messed up

A few things that helped me with a similar situation was shutting down the console by holding the power button on the console for about 10 seconds. Unplug everything from the back wait a few seconds plug everything in except the kinect. Turn console on>go
to settings>kinect>then plug kinect in. After console detects kinect calibrate it again with your tv/surround audio adjusted to one of the loudest settings you will ever use.

Screen goes dim while watching tv

So, I may have found a workaround. This workaround may not apply to all causes of this issue. For me, I think what is going on is that the XBOX one uses the cameras on the Kinect to detect activity in the room. If it doesn't detect activity is dims the screen.
My Kinect is defective so occasionally locks up or errors out. The XBOX one sees the Kinect but the Kinect doesn't see anything so doesn't detect any activity in the room no matter what. I got tired of dealing with it so I just unplugged the Kinect. Since
the Kinect has been unplugged, no screen dimming. Good luck if you choose to try this and remember; this is a workaround and not a fix. YMMV.
