Xbox One Killed Itself? [Please Help..]

    What happened:

I was playing Halo 5 Guardians multiplayer and several matches in a row right after it ended the game would freeze up and eventually it'd figure itself out or I'd have to go to Xbox Home and manually quit the game. Then after a match it froze my entire Xbox,
and I couldn't do anything but turn it off. I turned it on and the "Signing you in" thing came up but then it froze there, so I turned it off again. I turned it back on and this time it just took me to a blank gray screen, I turned it off and decided to leave
it alone for a while to see if it would maybe work later. About an hour later I tried turning it back on and now it's not even giving a signal out to the monitor. The little light on the button is turned on, but I've tried multiple HDMI cables and multiple
monitors and it's not displaying a signal. On top of that, it won't turn off. I have to unplug it to turn it off. The disc tray works fine, I've tried everything with both a disc in it and not in it.

This Xbox really doesn't have that many hours on it. I got it in fall of 2014, but I bet it has under 50 hours of gameplay on it total. It's gone long periods of time sitting with no use. I've been playing the past few days fine.

Does anyone have any idea what's going on? Is it toast? This is incredibly frustrating because like I said, I haven't even played it that much!

    :)

    HELP PLEASE!

The Xbox website is very easy to use and says this.
Error 0x803f8007 occurs when you try to start an Xbox One game or game add-on
You see the following error code and message when you try to launch an Xbox One game or game add-on:

    Something went wrong

    0x803f8007

This may mean you no longer own the content or no longer have permission to access the content. For example, you can’t access a game because you received a refund for it, or your game pre-order was canceled.

However Im not xbox support and thats who you should be contacting. They have a chat and its very quick and easy.

It sounds like it's toast. If you haven't tried it yet, you could always do the amazing reset. (it seems to be the most suggested thing if someone has a problem)

The good news is... you don't play it that much.

50 hrs playtime in 3 years sounds like you won't even need to replace it. (if it is toast)

Lol yea but I've finally got free time to play it! I was going to start! I have no school or work this summer so this was going to be the time to finally make use of the thing.

  6. Wow that really does bite. Well, it sounds like it might be toast to me as well. I won't sugar coat anything since I wouldn't want my hopes to be bolstered only to be disappointed, if it were me in your position, but it sounds to me like the "amazing reset"
that Goth is talking about doesn't hold much hope. First, you have to unplug it to get it to turn off. That's part of hard resetting... albeit your console should be shut down completely and properly before doing that. But therein lies the problem, since you
can't get to the home screen now anyway and the only way to get it to shut down is unplugging it.

If you've already tried holding the power button down for about 7-10 seconds (part of hard resetting) and the console still won't shut down after you've turned it on, then I'd say it's time to butter it, unfortunately.

I honestly think that devices that are so reliant on the internet, like this console, are actually likely to become less reliable and more prone to failures if they're used infrequently than if they're used constantly.

I talked with Microsoft support for a few hours and they couldn't figure anything out. I tried getting to the troubleshoot screen by holding the bind button, eject button and power button (I don't know if this is part of the amazing reset you guys are talking
about) but nothing ever displayed. So I have to pay half of what I paid for the console itself to get it repaired?

I actually was able to get it to turn off by holding down the power button for 10 seconds. I don't know if this changes anything or not

"So I have to pay half of what I paid for the console itself to get it repaired?"

What's the cost of repair, $150? You could get a new one on sale for $200, or you can often find a PS4 bundle for abound $220. If anything I'd get a new console or wait for the Scorpio rather than paying $150 for a repair.

  9. The amazing reset Goth mentioned is simply a hard reset of the console, which is pretty much the default first step in trouble shooting issues since it does help clear up a lot of minor problems.

The process itself is basically; with the console on. Hold power button for 7-10 seconds until it powers down fully. Unplug for about 30 seconds or longer. Plug back in, turn on and hope for the best. Doesn't sound like it's going to work for you as I said,
but at this point it wasn't going to hurt to try.

As CodeCat said, you might have to look around a bit for a sale, but new consoles can be found for ~$200. I'd go that route TBH because you know you're getting new and can buy extra warranty from most retailers. Or there's also the Scorpio option, but it
isn't supposed to release until this holiday season... which sounds like that might be outside of your "free time to play it" you had mentioned.

Alright thanks for your help guys. I'm taking it to someplace local that does free diagnostics testing and if their estimate isn't much cheaper than ~$100 I'll probably just find a new one on sale.
