XBOX ONE keeps turning on by itself

Every time I turn off my Xbox one( by control, or by pressing the button in the console), it turns off, then several seconds later turns back on. It is not on "instant on". I tried holding the Xbox button for several seconds and i'm still experiencing the
same issues. I tried using a different surge protector but it keeps turning back on. This happens about 75% of the time.

Hey, guys!

I'm sorry to see any frustrations with power issues on the consoles! We have seen a few reports floating around here of this. For the most part, if you have an original Xbox One, it could be that the touch capacitor button is dirty. We suggest cleaning it
off, gently, with a damp cloth. That should help out.

For an Xbox One S, since the button is physical, there could be something behind it or on the sides that's making it stick. You can clean it off the same way you would the original One, but you will also need to use a cotton swab for the sides of the button
with some rubbing alcohol (which dries fairly instantly and won't cause damage to the console if used lightly).

If that doesn't work, it could be your power settings, and the console is turning on to install an update. You can check this by going to

Energy saving mode if you're set to Instant on. This should help out with narrowing down if it's settings or console related.

If that doesn't help you out,
factory reset the console. You'll want to do a full reset to ensure that the operating system is completely reinstalled.

I wasn't experiencing this issue for about a month. Within the past few days it started to happen again. Anyone know what can i do?

me too. Don't play it for months at a time then boom ten minutes ago 1145am just popped on randomly while watching Hulu on PlayStation. Been happening for years. I just gave up and let it run now till it auto offs lol.

Yeah mine keeps doing this too. I've looked on other threads and the devs just tell everyone to make a new thread, for individual support.

I find it interesting that I see but have yet to come across a response that offers assistance. Perhaps I'm missing where MS may have posted it. But I'm having this problem too.

Im having the same problem. Ive even cleaned the whole damn thing with antiseptic wipes 5 times and it still switches itself back on. Microsoft are no help as they have not got a single clue as to what is happening and offer their equivalent of 'have you
tried turning it off and back on again'. There is over 26 thousand complaints about this now and no one has had any advice that works

Maybe Microsoft should get off their collective **** and have a good hard look at this problem as it is not isolated and seems to be getting worse
