XBox one keeps turning off after re-entering games.

So my xbox has started to develop a puzzling issue. I can load a game, play it no issues, but if I exit the game to go to another app, when I re-enter the game, the game does not load...so I press the X button, and then quit the game (standard support
procedure) but when I try to relaunch the game, the XBOX crashes and shuts completely off. Anybody have this issue? The games I have verified this happens with (and it happens EVERY time) are allo downloaded from the store...no disks.

My Xbox one s keeps turning off after an hour I've been to settings and turned off 1 hour automatic shut down but still it keeps turning off I thought it my be over heating so I had it cleaned but no problems please help

Thank you for letting us know about this issue, for this it may be good to perform a soft factory reset on the console by visiting Settings>System>Console Info>Reset Console>Reset console and keep My Games & Apps. Detailed information about factory resets

Thanks for the quick reply. This did not work. I did it a few times to verify, but the same behavior reoccurs. I can exit a game once successfully, but after that, I can no longer exit and then re-enter games.

If you are having problems with launching games (or rather, re-launching games) I'd suggest going through our troubleshooting steps outlined on our support page entitled “My
Xbox One game won’t start or freezes during gameplay” to try and resolve this issue outright.

If that does not work, then we also have another page that could also help you out called

Troubleshoot Xbox One unexpectedly turning off, since it also completely turns off every time as well.

Give those pages a look through and let us know if it helped in resolution of the issue

Based on what has already been suggested, it sounds like the next step may be a full factory reset on your console. I understand the time it takes to re-download everything can be lengthy. However, it is possible that a corrupted game file or update is causing

Yeah trying to avoid that. At least until I 100% Arkham City. I just dont have much experience with consoles in general. Thanks for the help, though!

Thank you for responding.

I want to ask when the issue happens what app are you going to before trying to go back into the game?

If it's YouTube, that is a known issue that was affecting Xbox's when switching to YouTube, then back to your game would cause the game to crash and then eventually the Xbox will shut down.

If it's any app then I would suggest the factory reset as mentioned before. I understand the concerns about your progress, but your progress is not permanently deleted after a factory reset because as long as you are connected to Xbox Live, your game data
is also saved to the Xbox Live Cloud and any data will re-sync once the game is re-installed.

Are the games and apps in question saved to an external HD or the internal HD?

 

Hi Diego, Thanks for the response, and to update everyone, I did the factory reset, reinstalled all the games (and I was happy to see that my progress was saved), but this had no effect. The console worked right for a few minutes, but then resumed the
previous behavior. To answer your specific question, we hit you tube throught the day, as I have a young one, but the app generally doesnt matter. I also have no problem re-entering apps, it is only games that cause the problem, the problem just started this
month, and it seems to be all of the games, but the Batman series seems to most reliably crash. Minecraft SOMETIMES will load, but is more likely not to.

 

Also one last thing I noticed. When the xbox crashes, I have to restart it manually, but the controller will not connect. I have to shut the xbox off again after rebooting it, and then turn it on via the controller. I am not a console guru, and I appreciate
the assistance with this issue, though I tend to think this is related to some sort of firmware update.

Also, my console is a specialty gears of war console or something like that.

Thanks for letting us know how you are doing thus far with all the troubleshooting and results!

It seems like you performed a full factory reset (removing everything) and reinstalled your games to the console but the console itself is still persisting in the same behaviors. Per what XBF Diego mentioned regarding the YouTube app, that is a known issue;
however, since you are having continuous issues with your console misbehaving in this manner regardless of the app or game involved, the best course of action for you would be to report the issue via the

Xbox Insider Hub app (you may need to download this...no worries, you don't need to be enrolled in the program and its free!) so that the issue gets reported directly to the engineers.

1. On your console, install the
   Xbox Insider Hub app (if you don’t already have it).
2. Hold down the Xbox button on the controller.
3. On the power menu, select Report a problem.
4. Describe the problem in detail, including when it happened, if you saw any specific error codes or messages, and if you were using any specific games, software, hardware, or accessories when you encountered the problem.

I havent done this suggestion, but it turns out, I don't need to. I decided to look in more depth at "the YouTube issue" and it turns out, I am pretty sure that is it. I didnt spot it initially because I wasnt jumping back into a game from you tube. BUT
that's not the only issue. If you exit a game and go into any other app, use it for a while, and jump back in, you're fine, If you exit a game and use you tube, it crashes AND if you exit a game, use you tube, hop to any number of other apps, and then go back
to your game, it crashes, so the issue is not jumping from you tube to a game, it is using the you tube app at ANY time before returning to your game. That's why I missed it.

Not being able to return to a game after using you tube at any time seems to be a pretty darn big "known issue" but at least I have nailed it down! Thanks again guys!!

 

There doesnt seem to be much information out there on this particular bug, should I install the software anyways to give you more info? Is there a known solution for this known issue?
