Xbox One keeps turning itself on.

I've had this console for 8 weeks now, at first it was the controller turning itself off while I was using it, and now over the last 10 days or so it's the console turning itself on when I'm not.

The first time was during the day. I went out and when I returned it was on. I thought maybe I'd just forgotten.

But over the next week when I got up in the morning more often than not the console would be turned on.

So I've read the suggestions in other threads.

1. I haven't got Kinect.

2. The console has always been in 'energy saving mode' never 'instant on'

So I performed a hard reset, and unplugged the console from the mains supply for 15 minutes. The next morning it was back on again.

So I changed 'Turn off after' from six hours to do not turn off. An hour later it turned itself back on. I turned it off and within a minute it was back on (this time my TV was on and I noticed the screen had a sign on it saying "how to connect to xbox live"
this only stayed on for a few seconds.

Since then, during today, the console has turned itself on at least 10 times. This is seriously getting beyond a joke. I can't have auto power off turned off if the xbox is going to constantly switch itself on.

That's an interesting one, we've not seen many reports of that issue happening at all. Is this an original Xbox One model, or an Xbox One S model? If it's an original model, try unplugging the console from the power source and cleaning the power button with
a soft try cloth to remove any fingerprints or debris. If that doesn't help, make sure your console is plugged directly into a wall outlet and not a surge protector/power strip. The Xbox One console has a built in surge protector, so if it's connected to another
one, it's very possible that there could be a power issue going on. Aside from that, it's also possible the console is downloading updates in the background.

I find it interesting that I see but have yet to come across a response that offers assistance. Perhaps I'm missing where MS may have posted it. But I'm having this problem too.

 

Im having the same problem. Ive even cleaned the whole damn thing with antiseptic wipes 5 times and it still switches itself back on. Microsoft are no help as they have not got a single clue as to what is happening and offer their equivalent of 'have you
tried turning it off and back on again'. There is over 26 thousand complaints about this now and no one has had any advice that works

Maybe Microsoft should get off their collective **** and have a good hard look at this problem as it is not isolated and seems to be getting worse

 

Hi All, yes I am also having this issue, my xbox one will just randomly turn itself on! Usually happens when I am asleep, its quite creepy really! I might send Microsoft a message via 'Twitter' as I cannot believe that So many people are having this problem,
and nobody is getting answers. I also have an issue with my internal wireless network adapter ( it displays on screen that its broke and that I must send my xbox in for repair! - only when playing wireless) so my friend suggested on getting wi-fi booster pack,
which to my surprise by-passed this issue, but still every now and then the message will appear, so I power the xbox off, then turn it back on, and its fine? Very strange. The point I make is, that my xbox displays this message about sending it in for repair
and its a load of BS, as I mentioned above can be sorted with a booster pack. I can imagine if others get this message, they will send their box in for repair at like minimum £80 /$120 !

 

I dont know if you have got this one resolved but if you listen to your xbox one when it swiches itself on and here it whiring then clean the eject button.

Did this to mine and its working fine now. Just remember to get around the edges
