Xbox One just stopped recognising external stogae

Hi Everyone.

Just connected my Xbox One to a new TV and the console has stopped recognising my external storage. Over 700GB of data on HDD so really keen to find out solutions. I have already:

Unplugged HDD and plugged it back into the same and different USB ports on console.

Tried a different cable.

Checked that the HDD is working and recognised on my PC - it is though I can’t actually see files (assuming that is usual as it is formatted for the Xbox).

Checked that another HDD is recognised by the console (it is)

Checked updates for TV and Xbox - all seem to be current.

Cycled Power on console

Done a reset where I kept saved games etc. ie not the full reset

Tried to contact Microsoft directly and was hung up on three times till I reached my “daily call limit”.

Apart from trying to use a third party program to recognise and copy existing HDD to another through my PC (can’t drop that through the Xbox as the console wont recognise the external storage), I can’t think of anything else to do.

Any ideas?

You performed pretty much all troubleshooting steps available - tested cables and USB ports, checked for updates, power cycled and factory reset. I can only suggest you to make sure your console is set to instant-on power mode:

- Press the Xbox button to open the guide;

- Select Profile & system > Settings > General > Power mode & startup;

- Confirm that the Power mode is set to Instant-on;

- Unselect the option When Xbox is off, turn off storage.

If the issue persists, I would suggest you to test the external HD on another console. If it is recognized, the issue is with your console, we can keep troubleshooting it. If it is not recognized too, unfortunately it would need to be formatted. I'm sorry, my friend.

It doesn't recognise the External HDDs full capacity though, does it, c0deater..?? The Xbox 360, will only recognise "One" 16GB partition on any external HDD..

It is only 16GB, as the UEFI System Kernel, is not designed, for a USB Drive to handle any more than 16GB without the dashboard crashing..

I'm not exactly sure what your asking but I just bought a 3tb external a few days ago. Plugged it in and the Xbox one recognised it instantly and away I went. It works flawlessly.

I've had a 1TB External HDD Partitioned for a deticated 16GB Xbox partition & when the Xbox Console configured it, the other partitions were no longer recognised in Windows & to get it to recognise, you have to format the drive again in Windows for FAT32...
So how is the answer, Yes..?? or are you using a program, to look at your Xbox files on your computer..??

No errors it just starts installing and then just stops
