Xbox One isn't sending a video signal through HDMI cable

This is the first time that this is happened to me, but apparently it's not a new issue. I have three Black Platinum Monster HDMI cables, none of them work, my $4,500 TV that I bought 3 months ago is definitely not the issue. I ejected Call of Duty to put
in Forza and as soon as I ejected the disc the video feed got cut off. I've tried different HDMI slots, etc. Done both ways of hard-booting the console, didn't work.

My honest-to-god only question is WHY did you release a console that can't even handle its own OS? This is ridiculous. I had an Xbox 360 Elite for SEVEN years and had no issues. Granted, I went through 4 of the original 360s but the Elite lasted me from
its release date up until about three months ago. You're charging $500 for a console that works 50% of the time, and 75% of the time it's having issues that no normal consumer can fix themselves. I'm a district manager for Best Buy, I'm in charge of 24 stores,
and I'm about to send an email to all of my General Managers telling them to push PS4s to customers looking at Xbox One's.

I've had Xbox LIVE for 11 years, and never have I been more disappointed in Microsoft.

    :)

  2. HDMI Pass Through

People have the misconception of HDMI pass through. All this means is that the HDMI signal from your cable box is "passed through" the Xbox one. If your Xbox isn't on, it won't be able to pass the signal through.

Has anyone at MS acknowledged these issues when using the HDMI in for TV? It is really obvious these are real problems when you compare the HDMI video signal to the original video signal coming out of the Cable box.

Picture quality is pretty clearly degraded passing through the Xbox one.

4k from cable box through Xbox day one edition

The Xbox One doesn't directly pass through the HDMI signal. It always "intercepts" everything coming in from the HDMI in port and processes it.

Since the original idea was to have TV and games "picture in picture", the Xbox takes the video signal, and processes it to be included with the TV app on the console and then outputs it via it's own video signal to the TV.

Since the original Xbox One isn't 4K capable, you will not get 4K from your cable box if you run it through the original Xbox One.

    Xbox One S visual problem

This issue might be cause by several reasons:

    • The HDMI cable is faulty.

Inspect the HDMI cable for damage. Also verify that the cable is plugged in and seated properly.
    • There's a device between your Xbox One and your TV.

Plug the HDMI cable directly into your TV. If this fixes the issue, you can configure your video settings later. For more information, see

How to adjust the display settings on your Xbox One console
      .
    • Your Xbox One can't determine the resolution of your TV.

The Xbox One X and Xbox One S consoles send digital audio and video signals to your TV through the HDMI cable, and your TV sends signals back to the consoles in constant two-way communication. One of the messages the TV sends is extended display identification
data (EDID). The EDID describes the modes, resolutions, and refresh rates that the TV supports. The Xbox One acknowledges the EDID and then sends the picture at the best possible resolution for the TV.

    Xbox 360 no hdmi Signal

    Hey there SeveRe Sulfa!

I'm sorry to hear you're having issues getting your having issues getting your display to show up properly. Let's see what we can do to get your display sorted.

It seems to me that your RCA cable is interfering with your HDMI. There's a couple things we can try to see if we can get it connected and showing properly.

The first thing I would try would be changing the order that you plug the cables into your console/monitor. If I'm reading this properly, you have your console connected to your router via HDMI, then you plug in the RCA cable and the video signal is lost.

If I'm reading that properly, I would try:

    • Unplug the HDMI cable from both your monitor and your console.
    • Restart the console.
    • Plug the RCA cable into your console.
    • Plug the HDMI cable into your console.
    • Plug the HDMI cable into your monitor.

I'm thinking that when you plug in the RCA cable, your console tries to send both audio and video signal through it. Obviously, since the RCA cable doesn't work for video, it doesn't work. But your console keeps trying to send the video signal via the
RCA cable. By changing the order that we're plugging those cables in, I'm hoping that it will try to send audio/video through the RCA cable, then when you plug the HDMI cable in it will send the video through the HDMI while keeping audio on the RCA.

If that does't work, are you able to try a
    VGA cable
and let us know if that works for you?

Let us know and we'll work with you from there! ^_^

July 2014 update broke Live TV for Cisco 8742HDC

The Secured cable connection that Jacob's (PUCSnake) reciever is talking about IS the fact that it REQUIRES A VALID HDMI HDCP Handshake before it can send the Audio/Video signals across the HDMI Cable legally.
