  1. Xbox One is waaay too slow!

I am an Xbox fan, so I want to see the console become as good as it can be. However, it is embarssing slow!! It is the year 2015 and it takes 30 seconds ATLEAST to open an app while I am playing Destiny. Far too many occurrences of the entire concole freezing
    entirely.

There are features that I would like to see added but before you keep adding stuff make it run like a state of the art console!

    :)

What is it about this game...

Too cramped, waaay too many flanks, there is no consistency in this game. I think you put it well. There is no rhythm.

Xbox One is waaay too slow!

most of the speed times, especially in apps and the home screen are coherent on your ISP speed. They are live tiles and need to pull information from the web before they display. If you are in Destiny, which relies heavily on using your bandwidth, then trying
to open another app that might pull info from online, it will slow down but that is your Internets fault, not MS's

Me personally, I can be in BF and snap an app and it may take 10 seconds max... all depending on the app.

I both agree and disagree with you tohell.

Microsoft uses different Xbox Live servers for Xbox 360 (15,000 worldwide) and Xbox 1 (300,000 Xbox Live Azure servers worldwide). In some ways it IS Microsoft's fault. Look at the huge amount of times Xbox Live has gotten a Service Alert, it has been more
    in 2014 compared to 2011, 2012 and 2013.

Also, it's the WAY they make the SOFTWARE (OS) for Xbox 1. Fact. Xbox 360 has weaker hardware, only 512MB RAM and it's Dashboard OS is swift. Even if you have ADSL Broadband speeds, Xbox 360 still loads Friends, Messages, and Achievements; faster than Xbox
1's Dashboard can. Others on here have also commented about the OS UI and speed and performance so the OP is NOT alone and he just doesn't have me backing him.

The software/OS on the hardware IS important. We all know how crappy Windows Vista OS was. If you got TWO PC's, both with a 4th or 5th generation Intel Core i7 processor PC with 8GB RAM, one of those PC's has Windows Vista, the other Windows 7, and if you
have Fibre Optic Broadband, you are going to get better performance with the PC with Windows 7 than the PC with Windows Vista. I had Windows Vista on my old PC which I got rid of, and when I installed Windows 7 on it, boot up time and shutdown time was faster
(no, not your internet problem), quicker to open up documents (so it's not your ISP's fault), and quicker to launch IE. Sure Friends app uses live tiles. But if you keep the Xbox Guide Menu open on your Xbox 360, that updates the number of friends you have
online in real time. How many times have other regulars on this forum complained about this site being temporarily down, pages not loading, it's not your ISP's fault, it's an issue on M's side. And members from across the world report it as well. Another
factor is you are connecting to Microsoft's servers. The 300,000+ Xbox Live servers for the Xbox 1 console are a newer technology compared to the 15,000 servers worldwide for Xbox 360. And Friends list unable to load or error when trying to load. Others have
experienced this too. It's not your ISP's fault, because the Xbox 1 Dashboard when it has this issue, says in text something like "having trouble loading your friends list? It may be an issue on our side". I think they went a little too far with smacking Windows
8 in our face. But Windows 10 is due out later this year. Xbox 1 uses 3 OS on Xbox 1 officially, an Xbox OS similar to Xbox 360 in some ways aka Dashboard, Windows kernel, and a hypervisor. I did a comparison video last year of how long Xbox 360 and Xbox 1
took to load stuff. In much of the results, Xbox 360 won. Galactic Geek has also seen my Youtube videos about it.

When Xbox 1 first launched, I experienced the same as the OP. It took the Xbox 1 Dashboard 45 seconds to load my Friends List app, and the Messages App. On Xbox 360, it took only 5 seconds tops. However speeds have improved since launch. Xbox 1's hardware
for sure has the capacity to multitask, but no matter how good your internet is, it's the OS (software) the holds responsibility as it is the key program software responsible for making the hardware operate.

I do have to agree with the OP. Opening messages, skype, friends list etc. is way to slow. Opening messages takes me about 20 seconds! And even the slowest internet should not take that long. They need to work on this.

I think this has to do with where the servers are located at. I am from europe and I think the US guys don't have these problems as we have. When I check my internet speed via the settings menu I have a ping of 190ms while when checking it with my computer
    I have 12ms!

That could be another factor, your ping. But Xbox 360 loads Messages and Achievements faster than Xbox 1, yet Xbox 360 only uses 15,000 Xbox Live servers worldwide. And I'm on ADSL averaging 10.9mb/s down and 0.9mb/s up. Our household is upgrading to VDSL
Broadband Unlimited usage per month, tomorrow. That means my Youtube uploads will be up to 9x faster uploads and up to 3x faster downloads compared to ADSL. Xbox 1 has 300,000+ Xbox Live servers worldwide. I probably have terrible ping since I live in a major
NZ city, but my Xbox 360 slim console stills loads Messages and Achievements at least a few seconds faster than Xbox 1's Dashboard does (taking into account navigating the Dashboard with the controller, not navigating the dashboard with voice commands). Many
have experienced issues loading Friends List, and Party Chat. Microsoft has released Dashboard Updates (updates to the OS/software that is responsible for running the hardware) pretty much on a monthly bases. Both due to the Feedback that the console has received
(which is tonnes of it), and to help improve system performance. Xbox 360 pretty much only gets a System Update to the Dashboard perhaps once every 6 months or so. I love Xbox 360's current Dashboard UI. If I have dreadful ping because I live in a major NZ
city, you would think messages and achievements would load just as slow on Xbox 360's Dashboard, but guess what, Xbox 360's Dashboard despite this, still loads some stuff faster than Xbox 1's Dashboard. Say what? It's true. Xbox 1 has improved since it's Launch,
but they still got some work to do on it's Dashboard and UI.

    User talks to the Application

Application talks to the software (Xbox 1 Dashboard)

Software talks to the hardware (Xbox 1)

    Hardware responds to the software

    Software responds to the application

    Application responds to the User.

I saw this simple diagram on Wikipedia under Operating System search. I still think the software of course, is responsible. Xbox 1 has 8GB DDR3 RAM, and an AMD Jaguar 8 core APU (it doesn't just have a single core processor). Xbox 1's hardware is capable
of multitasking. But like Brain said, "even the slowest internet should not take that long".

Cant say I suffer from slow loading of anything really, the whole experience is smoother and faster than the 360. By the time the 360 chugs into life I have been gaming on the One for about five minutes.

Ive said it before I rarely use apps (only Netflix really) which could be why I dont seem to have a slow response time or freezes.

I am on both my Xbox 360 and Xbox One daily. The Xbox 360 is more convenient when accessing certain Xbox Live app. Friends, Party Invites, Messages to name a few. However, I do believe that in time the Xbox One's OS will be on par with the Xbox 360.

  14. That's why smart people own both.

I love my PC gaming but to be fair even the One has it beat for unity of services, with the 360 the obvious leader at this point in time.

  15. I have 30mbps internet, I know there's faster internet but I think that should be way more than enough to load my friends list quickly.

I thought the 360 was very slow to bring up menus also. I'm not a programmer but it seems like it should be nearly instantaneous to load a 2D menu with text and small pictures
