  1. Xbox One is stuck on Moderate NAT despite every attempt to change it to Open

I'm hoping someone can help me here because it seems I've exhausted every possible option to get my Xbox One's NAT to change from Moderate to Open. I just recently moved apartment complexes and at my old apartment complex I always had an open nat. I was
able to connect easily to Xbox One parties and chat with people. Ever since moving into my new apartment complex I've been stuck on moderate unable to chat with anyone in Xbox One parties with a handful of different error codes. For example, when I power on
my Xbox and go into Network Settings to test the multiplayer connection under "Detailed NAT Information" it says "Your network in behind a cone NAT" which apparently is the message you look for when you have an open NAT. As far as status codes are concerned
I've received multiple ones, the current one I'm looking at says "0x1040040000000000". I've done my fair share of troubleshooting and have tried the following solutions to this problem:

    - Port forwarding ports 53, 80, 88, 500, 3074, 3544, and 4500.

    - Disabling port forwarding and enabling the UPnP

    - Disabling the UPnP

    - Enabling DMZ

    - Disabling DMZ

    - Holding down all bumpers and triggers then exiting the detailed network statistics to see that my NAT type is now magically open, but the seeing under "Detailed NAT Information" "Your network is behind a port-restricted NAT", and then shortly after turning
off my Xbox One it switches back to moderate. Also even when it says open I still am unable to connect to anyone's party.

    - Power cycling my Xbox One

    - Completely shutting down and unplugging my router

    - Setting a static IP address for my Xbox One

The router I'm using is an ASUS RT-AC66R. Anytime I join a party it says "Due to network limitations, you can't join party chat right now. (0x807d0106)". I'm about 1 more error code away from pulling my hair out. Someone, please help.

    :)

  3. Stuck behind Moderate NAT and I dont know what else to do

We recently got a faster internet router that enables up to almost 75 MB per second download. But the thing is, since we got it, I have been stuck behind a moderate UPnP port restricted NAT. I port forwarded the xbox one on the router, didn't change, I
rebooted the Modem, the Router and the Xbox One, didn't change, nothing I have been doing has had any effect and I am stuck behind this Moderate NAT and I am at my wits end on what to do.

The sad thing is, on our previous Wi-fi which was only about 20 to 25 MB per second download, I always had a open NAT. Now that we have this bigger download speed ext, i've been stuck behind this moderate NAT and I dont know how to fix it.

Have you tried directly to your Modem?

Settings>Network>Test multiplayer connection.... After it has completed the connection test hold BOTH triggers at the same time. See what happens.

    -

Also, what I did was Settings>Power & Start up>Restart now.

    -

There are actually helpful video's on YouTube to help with this problem. Mine was doing the same, now it is Open!

you enabled DMZ and gave your X1 a static IP, but did you put your X1 in the DMZ?

if the only thing that changed was your location, then i'm guessing your ISP is being provided by the leasing company and they are running you through NAT, which means you are most likely double NATing.

assuming that is correct, gave your X1 a static IP, put that IP in the DMZ, should fix the problem.

  7. By connecting directly to modem I assume you mean plugging my ethernet directly from my Xbox into the ethernet port in the wall, I did and my NAT went from Moderate to Strict.

As I said in my original post, I have tried the "Test Multiplayer Connection and hold down all triggers/bumpers" fix and for a short period of time my NAT will switch from Moderate to Open. However, even when it says Open I still run into the say error code
and cannot hear or speak to anyone in a party. It is worth mentioning though that when I initially test my multiplayer connection under "Detailed NAT information" it says "Your network is behind a cone NAT" (supposedly what you want to see) but after doing
the fix, having an Open NAT connection, I go back to test multiplayer connection and it says "Your network is behind a port-restricted NAT" under "Detailed NAT information".

I do believe I've given my Xbox One a static IP, unless I've somehow missed a step or two. When I go into my router's interface and enable DMZ it asks for the IP address of the exposed station, I put in (what I assume to be my now STATIC IP) into the box
and hit apply. However, no change in NAT type.

I don't really understand it myself but have you tried calling your broadband provider to see what they suggest? Could be worth a shot.

I know from talking to friends here in the UK, various methods work for some, other's they don't. I know quite a few people who are with BT like myself. If they get NAT issues the LT, RT, LB, RB trick usually works. My cousin though who is with SKY found
    this trick doesn't work.

Also, in the Network Test screen on the Xbox One console, have you tried "Clearing Mac Address" I'm not sure what this exactly does but I've seen others suggest that.

On the Home Hub I use it has a Reset Button on top that 99% of the time sorts out any issues. It also has on the back a little hole just big enough to fit the tip of a pen in, this is a "Factory Reset" which my broadband provider suggests trying if all else
fails. Has your modem got something similar you could try?

    Hope you get it sorted.

some network providers have there own NAT enabled

you could try turning off your routers firewall see if that makes a difference/test, but I wouldn't recommend using it that way if you have other computers connected to it.

if you have plugged your console directly into your modem and still have Strict NAT I would have a chat with your ISP see if they can suggest anything.

  10. Still unable to figure out the issue. Came to figure out that the ISP for my apartment complex is Suddenlink (which in the United States, North Carolina specifically, sucks). I went as so far to call the apartment clubhouse and ask if I would be allowed
to purchase an outside internet provider, but it turns out they have a contract with Suddenlink, therefore I'm stuck with them. I called Suddenlink myself to try and troubleshoot, they told me to call the apartment clubhouse and put in a work order for an
IT that works with my apartment complex to call me. Two days later, no call, I put in ANOTHER work order, finally got a call, missed it, and left a voicemail for the IT only to not receive anything back from him. This is pretty ridiculous, I've looked up all
methods of port forwarding, tried every trick I can to keep an open NAT, but nothing. All I want to do is be able to join an Xbox Live party and be able to communicate with people while gaming.

    Hi Mellow,

Your situation sounds difficult and as you suspect, it may be caused by your service provider. As you know, the best way is static ip and dmz in your router. My old router was the same as yours, but I can't remember if upnp was enabled too or not, so try
both ways - my current router, the Netgear R7000 with dd-wrt firmware likes upnp on. Remember, DO NOT use static in the xbox one, leave it on automatic. This will ensure your router is controlling the leasing of the xbox's ip. Switch off allwww.mann-tek.com/.../about-npt-and-bsp-threads
then Reboot Modem - Router - computer (xbox in your case). Carry out all three xbox network tests, top to bottom, then quit out of settings, then reopen and check nat status.

If following this doesn't work, it must be your isp.

There's a good piece here too. Take note of the additional ports:

    Good luck.

Christ - obviously ignore the link in the middle of paragraph 1. It's only there because Android is a car crash of an operating system.

Where's the edit tool on here anyway???

    @ Sahnkal,

You see the "Moderate" option to bottom right of post? it's in there! You have to be quick though, you only get a VERY short time to edit posts.

  14. I've actually visited that link before making this thread, so unfortunately I don't think I could learn anything new. I got into contact with Suddenlink and they said there was nothing specifically they could go on their part since they're a mass provider
for the apartment complex (they change one thing, they change it for everyone crap), so this is now just a matter of finding the balance between this ISP and Xbox's excuse for party chat. Like I said before, I THINK I tried the static IP/DMZ route and noticed
it did not work for me, but I'm convinced I missed a step or two. If someone on here could list the steps in the CORRECT order that I'm suppose to take and what to have/not have enabled I would greatly appreciate it.

  15. Also, please remember I have no "modem", there is simply an ethernet port in the wall, which my router plugs into. No resetting or anything of that nature.
