Xbox One is not recognising my hard drive

Hi everyone,

I've noticed a few questions on here quite similar but my experience is a little different. I have the Seagate 2TB hard drive for Xbox and have had it for quite a few days, it has been working perfectly fine up until today. I went to play one of the games
which is installed on the hard drive an it said the game had not been installed. I went to check my storage devices and it said that the hard drive was not connected. I took it out, rebooted the xbox, took all wires and USB cables out and it still would not
connect and i noticed the light was not lit or flashing like usual. I have also been connecting it to my laptop and it recognises it. I go to initialise the hard drive so I can re-format it for my xbox however, it will not let me initialise. Could anyone help
me out with this problem?

I bought a bigger hard drive and a data transfer cable from amazon and now it has wiped my existing hard drive but now my xbox doesnt recognise either hard drive ...is there a way to factory reset the machine without the hard drive being recognised ?

When you say you bought a new one, was it a hard drive similar to your old one, or one of the newer model hard drives. If it was one of the newer model hard drives, then that is why it wont work. The older model xbox 360's won't recognise them.

My xbox one doesn't recognise my external hard drive when it worked perfectly fine on my 360.... doing my head in! Does any one know how to resolve this??

I have had an issue like this in the past but due to weather and power outages. If this may have happened, your HD might have been affected by this. Have your tried to do a complete Hard Reset of the Xbox itself? If not I would try this and see if it has
fixed the issue. The only other options I can think of is to check a different USB plug on the Xbox, (If you have access) trying to plug it into another xbox to see if it is recognized or plugging into your computer (Without formatting) to see if it is recognized
by your PC.

I would try these out with the test on the computer being your last option. Just in case it reformats the HD.

Another thing to try with the console is a hard reset of the system and then also do a soft factory reset keeping apps and games and see if that possibly allows it to read on the Xbox again. Also, if you're on the Insider Program with your system, I would
take it off for a while. I had major issues up til a week ago when I uninstalled the program and took my system off of it. I was having issues even getting the system to turn on so anything could be affected
