    Xbox One is grabbing an invalid IP


    Hello All,

    I am having some issues with my Xbox One with connecting to the internet. This only happens once in a while and normally it happens after I havent switched on my Xbox for a few days. When I go into the network settings; the Xbox is reading that it is wired
    connection but its grabbing an invalid IP and subnet mask. The gateway shows up as 0.0.0.0 also.

    The current fix of simply unplugging the Ethernet cable replugging it in works fine but lets be honest that gets old after awhile especially when I want the Xbox to update while its in standby mode so I can jump on and go without worrying about a game update.
    Any ideas of what is wrong. My instant gut reaction is that the network port on the Xbox is faulty.

    Well its not the ethernet cable. I tried a new one and it is the same result. Pulls the correct network info but xbox tests say that there is a connection error.

    I tried this method first because that is what I thought was my issue. All ports have been forwarded so I think thats why it is pulling the correct information now however the xbox connection test says there is an error

    Edit: I am now trying a different ethernet cable to see if the one is just junk

    Try setting your console to a reserved/static IP address in your modem configuration. That way it will always use the same IP.
    The Xbox is already set on my modem with a reserved IP. I did also tried to set the settings on the Xbox manually for that reserved IP but it wont save them and just reverts.

    Not sure if bumping this is allowed but I am still having the same issue just now the network settings are correct but after a connection test it says that it cannot find the IP
