Xbox One is Freezing up

I recently bought an Xbox One S and moved my old Xbox One to my upstairs bedroom. I had just finished watching a Movie on my old Xbox so it was working fine. I moved it upstairs and it loads up just fine but when I tr to go to any apps or settings, it freezes
up. Sometimes an Error comes on saying "wait and if this happens again try resetting by holding the button for 10 seconds" etc. This doesn't always pop up. Also, When I hold the home button on the controller, the turn off console/controller option pops up
but it freezes and doesn't let me pick either. I've tried resetting it, unplugging it, all the basic stuff and still nothing. The only things that are different are, I removed the external drive but never changed it to internal and it is no longer hard wired
and I never set up a wifi connection. Would either of these cause the xbox to turn on normally but not allow for anything to work? I started having this problem a while back when it was still my main console but it always ended up fixing itself and being fine,
now it's stuck and unuseable. It's definitely out of warranty so am i screwed?

Xbox One Freezing Up

I just got onto my Xbox One, I signed in and then it froze. None of the buttons worked on the controller and the screen wouldn't move. I looked if other people had this problem, and they did, so I pushed the power button for ten seconds to turn it off.
I let it sit for five minuets, turned it on and it seemed to work. But about five minuets in it froze again. So i am just wondering it there is any other things i can try. Thanks!

 

Xbox One Freezing Up

Consider if the Xbox One is trying to sync things to the xbox live server.

I too had this same experience and have linked it to two possible situations.

1. Xbox Live being down and now my game saves, and video are all trying to sync to the cloud at once.

2. When I play disc games this happens and I have to make sure to close the game before remove the disc (close = using the menu button to quit the game) I still have to perform a hard reset once or twice a week but this is what I've come up with over the
last year.

"so am i screwed", I don't think so, but it's clearly something is going on. I also have an older Xbox One and a new One S, and I have had no problems running my account on either one of them. But, I did set my One S to "my
home Xbox". So, may I start by suggesting you tried deleting and "re-add" your profile to the old Xbox. Yes, I know it may sound
a little silly, but it's best to begin with the easy stuff first. In deed, it might be worth double checking to make sure this isn't some kind of strange "Networking" issue.
You did the now famous "How to restart or power cycle your Xbox One console", but do you ever get a "startup
error" code? If not, I would then recommend doing "How to reset your console to factory defaults on Xbox One". The next step is a little bit
more involved, and if you are getting an Exxx error code you may have already heard of something called "Offline System Update (OSU)". If after doing all
that, you continue to have problems, then things maybe more serious. At which point you will have to decide if you want to "Contact" Xbox Support and pay for out of warranty repairs or
simply buy another new Xbox One S.
