    I have a router but I have no idea about how to assign a static IP address. Do you do it through the router or through the Xbox One?

    i wrote down my ip address for my xbox to connect to my xbox one but it said "we are not able to find an xbox one console with the IP address provided.." is it because my console is off, or unplugged? BTW i am far away from my xbox like 5 km, why isn't it working?

    Hi

    When you connect your Xbox One to your network it will automatically assign an IP add8for your console to use. If you need to manually set an IP address on your console the link below should help with this.

    Hello Shirley,

    We understand that you're attempting to retrieve the IP address on the Xbox One console.

    Our suggestion here, while on the console follow these steps:

    1. Click the Xbox button on the controller
    2. In the menu, scroll right to find System
    3. In system, select Settings
    4. Find Network and then select Network Settings
    5. At the top left, select Advanced Settings

    This will allow you to view the current IP address on the console.

    Disconnecting from CoD Ghosts

    Go into your router and check the IP address for your xbox one then go to settings/network/advanced settings/IP address and make sure the address is the same on the xbox as it is in your router. If not go to IP address manual and manually enter the IP address
    that your router gives you for the xbox one. This solved the problem for me.

    Under firewall and security there should somewhere be an option called DMZ, find DHCP reserve list and add your Xbox One IP address to the DHCP reserve list or select keep this IP address, then enter that Xbox One IP address into the DMZ when asked for an
    IP.

    Make sure this you don't double up IP addresses too.

    Is Microsoft addressing the strict nat issue?

    In your router settings, set your MAC address of your Xbox One to always force to a specific IP address, and open the Xbox Live ports for that specific IP address. The ports will always be open for that IP, and your Xbox One will always be assigned that
    IP address by your router if you set it up correctly. No issues here with an ASUS RT-N66U router.
