  1. Xbox One - intermittent no sound when xbox turned on when using HK AVR

My issue has been brought up with Xbox Twitter support , Xbox live support chat and xbox support phone chat with no clear cut resolution. I have my XB1 wired HDMI to my Harmon Kardon audio/video receiver then HDMI to my TV. my issue is intermittent but almost
100% of the time it happens. When turning on all devices my HK AVR shows the audio as Prologic and I haven't sound. To correct this I have to do one of two things. Either toggle my HK AVR inputs or go to Xbox one settings and change the audio from 5.1 uncompressed
audio to anything else and then set it back. Either one will solve the issue until the next time I turn on the xbox. Below are some things I have tried

different HDMI cables, resetting the console by unplugging it, factory defaulting the console. When Xbox is wired HDMI directly to my TV I always have sound. I have a bluray player, media player and Wii U that are all using HDMI with 5.1 uncompressed audio
with no issues on my HK AVR. I use to use a PS3 which had no issue As well.

i've tried different settings like HDMI auto detect and HDMI 1080p, 5.1 uncompressed , 7.1 uncompressed , Dolby digital, all have had no affect on my issue. Now I bought the day one edition Xbox one and didn't have any audio issues in the beginning. I did
have my freezing with the console and it was RMA'd. I received the replacement console and a few weeks (not sure how long but over a month) later I started to experience this issue. I have spend countless hours on the phone with support. i explain that it's
intermittent but they just don't get it. Because they have me unplug the console and reset things, reseat/replace cables until it works. But I try to explain that it does work sometines, that's what intermittent means. Today Xbox Twitter support referred me
here as this us my last resort. I have had too many problems with Microsoft since purchasing this Xbox one. Controller issues and xbox shipping me incorrect replacement controllers ( this has happened twice) and currently I am still waiting on this other issue
to be rectified from March 21. So as you can tell I am thoroughly disgusted with the utter lack of customer service from Microsoft and completely disappointed with the Xbox One thus far.

    :)

  2. HDMI Video but no Optical Sound

I have my xbox one connected to an Pioneer AV Receiver (LX SC81). Up to this point I was using HDMI for sound and video with no problems. Ive just bought the Rocksmith guitar game and have read online that there is serious sound lag when using HDMI for audio.
Therefore, Ive connected an optical audio cable from the XBox to one of the AVR optical inputs.

When in the menu settings of the AVR, video from the xbox is turned off which is normal. When in the menu settings the xbox audio via optical works as i can hear the game audio coming through the speakers. When I come out of the menu in the AVR and video
returns, the sound cuts off. It seems I can have video (HDMI) or sound (optical) but not both?? Ive tried the Optical uncompresed stereo, bitstream DTS and DD.

Xbox One X Unprocessed 7.1 not working unless set to Unprocessed 5.1

I have an Xbox one X hooked up via hdmi to my Sony str dh770 AVR.

The avr is then hooked up via hdmi to my samsung.

I have left center right and 4 surround sound speakers and a sub. When I set the xbox settings to 7.1 unprocessed and then set the sound field to PLIIx on the avr I still only get 5.1 and 2 silent surrounds.

If I change that setting to 5.1 unprocessed on the xbox settings then I get sound from all 7 speakers when using PLIIx

    What is the deal

Switch DVR input when Xbox One is turned on

The setting in the AVR is all or nothing, which is on right now.

It sounds like the xbox just doesn't send that message when it's turn on; maybe in a future update

XBOX ONE Turns AVR to FM input when turned on

Hi BadBilly - can you try out these codesets?

    0054

    1254

    2655

    2041

Also, do you have the "turn off my AVR with Xbox Off" option checked, or no?

XBOX ONE Turns AVR to FM input when turned on

It appears that this is by design from RCA. Sending the discrete POWER ON command is the same thing as the FM input, it even mentions this in the manual. Apparently when choosing a source, it's meant to turn on the RCA receiver.

I'm working to see if there's a workaround, but I'll take note of this going forward.

XBOX ONE Turns AVR to FM input when turned on

Very interesting, thanks. Let me do some more investigating. I don't have anything else I can offer for now.

XBOX ONE Turns AVR to FM input when turned on

0054 and 1254 work for volume up and down and power on and off 2655 works for volume only and 2041 does not work at all I have also tried disabling the "turn devices off" feature so my avr just stays on but when Xbox turns on it sends the avr from Sat input
to FM radio input I would use the 2655 code that works the volume only but seemed to have some interference with something and started turning up volume automatically without kinect commands even listening so still stuck. Thanks for the timely response though
hope we can get this fixed is there anyway of finding out the code that the original remote sends out?
