    Xbox one intermittent snowy screen

Hi, suddenly today, I've experienced the snowy static screen flashing on and off. This is the first time I've ever seen this after having the Xbox for over 3 years.

I did receive the latest software update earlier this week, and I suspect that may have something to do with it.

I am however aware that there was a previous software issue that caused this around 2014 / 2015, as they are the only similar issues I can find on this forum.

I have tried all the fixes suggested from that time, includ doing a hard reset, unplugging the power supply, clearing the disc caches etc. All the cables have been checked. There is nothing wrong, but as soon as I launch an app or game, the issue returns.

How can I fix this? It is so frustrating.

  4. Xbox One intermittent flashing "snowy" screen.

Brand new console on Sept 10 and don't recall any issues week one; week two noticed some intermittent flashes and was thinking maybe my cables were going bad. Week three with new cables problem got worse. I had cable company come out and everything works
fine if I hook up directly to TV. Reboots sometimes work but I have to do it like 3-4 times to get it working. Week four and I'm mad at myself for trading in my 360 Xbox One intermittent flashing "snowy" screen. :( I thought waiting it out and getting a 2nd production run console would help me avoid all
the bugs but seems that was wishful thinking.

I think this is a HDCP issue and I'm about to try the pin 19 trick on my cables to see if that will make my setup think it's always on and never tries to re-establish the link. My system will work fine once I get it running but I rue the fact that I paid
hard-earned $ to get this system and I have to troubleshoot every day to get it running. I remember as a kid blowing on my NES and slamming cartridges in it, holding reset for hours, crossing my fingers and praying to God that it would work and anything else
I could just to play a 2-D primitive game. Funny how history repeats itself and 25 years later we gamers still go mad when something does not function as advertised - anyone want to try slamming a DVD in your console and reporting back? lol

I'm sure MS is doing everything they can to remedy this and the official support in this forum should not have any blame- they are here to help (even though "support" seems more like "retort" sometimes). The real blame here should go to regulators for not
mandating a single format for HDMI – all of our systems are trying to communicate with each other in different languages and that makes it difficult for everybody involved.

Looking forward to the update but doubt that it will permanently fix the issue – if you want a permanent fix call your local home theater guy and ask him for a converter thingamajig – it’ll cost your $300 or more but it will coordinate all the HDMI signals
and eliminate the problem. As a 99 per center I’ll wait on the plebian update as I think spending any more than I already have on leisure activities is dumb.

Have reported my "snowy" screen problem earlier, I can now replicate the problem everytime as follows--

    1) kid turns on xbox, uses her own xbox account.

    2) launches Netflix app & watches a netflix movie or tv series.

    3) when done watching, press & hold white-Xbox-button on controller, & when menu pops up, select "Console Off" to turn off xbox+tv+cable dvr (my xbox power settings on 'toggle').

    4) next I turn on xbox & use my own separate xbox account,

    5) bingo! snowy screen everytime...flashes about every 6 seconds & have to do the 5-second powerbutton reset to clear.

If kid stops watching Netflix & switches to tv & then turns off xbox, the problem doesn't show up when I turn xbox back on.

So, can others duplicate & confirm for our MS debuggers?

  6. @GhostlyCrowd: I had another thread but it was locked because of People who said it is fixed but it wasn`t. it was a diffrent Problem what they said and so funny it sounds it was the snow flicker...So they locked more than one of my threads and other users
thread where our issue was discussed.

Microsoft told(forced) me to come here.

I know it is Messing up the Details but I also had mention it to Keep it clear. I^m sorry that I mess up this thread but I was told to come here and they locked the other threads... I have mentioned it above.. to Show the People that this is not the same
issue.. so that they unlock the old thread.. I don^t want to write down all Steps and Problems again for the third time...

and yes of course I also post it in Preview section.. but you also said your in preview, so why are you here to say the People it is fixed-... why not posting it in preview where the info would be needed..?

GhostlyCrowd: "It is indeed fixed, 6 days strong here on the preview and no snow."

I can^t do anything against as Long MS does not read the Posts focused and selecting the Information and add it to the Issuepool, I only can tell them it is not same Issue, but if they don^t read it and tell me to come here what should I do?

    @Bhutankam Pema

I have reported all useful info as well as the report of the update they released to address the snowy screen issue fixing the issue for me in the Preview forums. The reason i am posting in the public forums is because i am letting them know if they experience
the issue that I specifically said was fixed for me. Then they will see a fix when it goes public. You could say i am being an "Ambassador" to the public Xbox One intermittent flashing "snowy" screen. ;)

Again if you are still having issues, you know the proper way to have it addressed, Start a tread in the preview forum and submit console logs/feedback when it happens. Be constructive, not counterproductive. First step to helping your self is using the
    resources available to you properly.

Xbox One intermittent flashing "snowy" screen.

I have noticed it doesn't seem to happen if I switch to TV before turning it off but I do get it if I switch it off from inside a game, only one account on my xbox.

This is now worst!!!! Happens EVERY DAY now!!!

Dammit Microsoft, I spent over 1300$ on your console so far, please fix this ASAP!

I fixed part of the problem by getting a PS4 and switching a couple pre-orderd!

This is so stupid and a noying that I might sell the one... I feel cheeted and stolen right now!

Hey so I have the latest update and it seems like this problem doesn't occur any more. I think it has to do with the TV app. I make sure that my HD box is powered down both before opening and quitting the TV app. I have been doing this well before the latest
update and the problem has not reoccured, so I can't really say the new update has fixed it for me until I stop doing this.

  12. Hey, guys! If you are still experiencing the static/snowy screen or the HDCP error, I've got word that they should be resolved. If you haven't received the most recent update yet, please attempt to force the October update by going to Settings >
    System > Update Console
if you have the option. If you are on the current Xbox One Operating System and still experiencing these issues, please feel encouraged to
post back in here. We'll need a few things from you!

    • What OS are you running (as found in the link above)?
    • What TV brand and model do you have?
    • What is the manufacturer and model number of your set top box?
This will help the investigating teams narrow down what the possible issue is.

We appreciate your patience while we got this sorted out! Thanks so much for the information you've provided! Xbox One intermittent flashing "snowy" screen. :D

Xbox One intermittent flashing "snowy" screen.

I am having an issue with snow. Sometimes giggling the cable helps, but not always. I found that by reducing my color depth to 24bit, the snowy picture goes away.

Usually run 36bit, and 30bit is worse than 36bit. Running 1080p with HDMI connector on a newer Samsung 7000 series plasma, so I know the tv handles rhe resolutions.
