    Xbox One Installation times.

Hi Everyone, this is my first post on here and I wondered if somebody could help? I have an Xbox 360 gold account and have just recently bought for my son's Christmas present an Xbox One. I also bought him Plants Vs Zombies garden warfare and the package
came with a FIFA 15 download. I thought I would make sure everything works before the big day. Both of the games I had bought needed to be installed on the hard drive, ok I thought, this shouldn't take long. Boy was I wrong, it took 50 minutes for each game!!!!!
Isn't the Xbox one supposed to be a quicker and faster machine? Then I thought perhaps it was my internet speed t home. My system is currently wireless, would it be quicker if I used an Ethernet cable? PLease could somebody advise if this is normal to install
a game or should it be a lot quicker?

I have to say, I am a little disappointed with my first introduction to the xbox one.

    :)

    xbox one installation

previously i had no issues installing games from the xbox store . It takes a lot of time to download though , due to my slow internet . however , after the recent april update for the xbox one , i have an issue regarding the installation of one of the games
with gold titles : "ryse" . the game stops installation at regular time intervals and i have to resume the installation for the game to carry on and its taking forever .usually i put a game on installation before i go to bed and its done by morning . but in
this case the game automatically turns off installation and i dont have any connection issues also . its kinda annoying to resume the installation continiously .

Installation times for xbox one games

I agree. Just got an Xbox one and this (and other things) is making me regret my purchase. My internet is on the slower side so I get about a max 1gb/hr (provided nothing else is downloading). Nothing worse than putting a disc game in and being told
it needs to download 6+ gig before I can play. I basically have to wait until the next day.

And even worse are the digital games. It took me the better part of a week to download AC Unity. Only to have it want to do another 50+gb patch a couple of days after completing. I just gave up on that one.

Being a long time (since the 80s) PC gamer as well I can tell you this is one of the things that got consumers frustrated with PC gaming when they switched over to consoles. They just want to put in a disc and start playing without any extra steps.

  7. Downloading and Installing are very different. To download an entire Blu-Ray Disc in 50 mins is by no means poor. Also a wired connection will make it faster.

When you put a new disc in the drive, there is inevitably an update that needs to be downloaded too. How do you know when the disc has finished installing and that the update is downloading in the background so that the xbox can be turned off?

    Hope that makes sense!!

50 minutes is good, especially done wireless. It will be slightly quicker wired.

Its all based around your broadband connection. I live out in the country so only receive a 4Mbps broadband speed. My full installation of Fifa 15 took around 18 hours, so count yourself lucky!

They do take a while to install at times. If it asks you to install an update when you go to install the disc. Select later to do it Xbox One Installation times. :) ...otherwise it can lead to massive long install times Xbox One Installation times. :)

You also have to remember that the Xbox One is Blu Ray, Blu Rays hold much much more data than the old 360 DVDs Xbox One Installation times. :)

I disconnect from the internet and then install my games. Reconnect and then grab the game updates. Goes a lot quicker I've found.

Still not sold on digital downloads yet. I like the feeling of picking up a game in town and having to wait until I get home to play it. That for me is part of the experience.

I will be honest I have had no issues with install times, I think a game took me 20 minutes to install but that was it even with my Ethernet port plugged in

I run everything from plug socket Ethernet connections instead of WIFI nower days for my gaming experience so I can designate my fast infinity internet to my gaming devices for a better connection

I understand Xbox Live has a requirement of 2 megabytes minimum internet connection to access Xbox Live but myself I have 60meg+ and generally with my Xbox One I have had no problems, the same with the Xbox 360.

If you wanted for future like updates etc. just let the Xbox do its thing, I allow my Xbox to update itself when I am asleep and do little tweaks here and there without me turning it on as it runs itself in the background when it needs to.

This is all in the settings column.

  14. Its all about your connection speed. Pretty much all Xbox One games have a game update when you first install them. These updates can vary from a few hundred Megabytes to several Gigabytes. The console will always download the update first before installing
the data from the Blu-ray game disc. If your connection speed is low, it may take some time to get the update.

If all you want to do is play single player, disconnect your console from the Internet, install the game disc and play while still offline. You can install the game update later. If you set the console to 'Instant On' game updates will download while the
console is in a low power state.

Its the same with downloading full games from the Xbox One Store. Xbox One games vary in size from a few hundred Megs (Minecraft) to 50GB + for Halo MCC.

Not had any slow downloads myself, but then I'm on 120 Mb/s (megabits) connection from Virgin Media.

I'm on the same Obsessive. Took a couple of hours to re-download Wolfenstien, Watchdogs, PvsZ, Battlefield (and all the dlc) when I bought an external hard drive.
