xbox one install game disc in 9 hours

however..

if you are connected to the internet with your console and installing a disc based game, then it will download and install any relevant patches at the same time, so say for example you install call of duty, then it will install around 100gb of patches and
extras alongside the initial game, you can speed up this process by disconnecting from the internet and only installing the disc based software, however once you connect back to the internet you will be asked to download any relevant patches and updates as
required again.

Okay for those of you who are wondering why does it take 13-15 hours sometimes to install a game on the Xbox One

If its taking even hour to install one game from a Blu-ray disc - and assuming your not downloading an update at the same time - it won't be due to the complexity of the compression of the assets on the disc. Basically, anything more than hour
installing purely from a disc indicates a hardware failure.

Typically when you install an Xbox One game for the first time there will also be game update, these updates install at the same time as the disc install.

If for example your connection speed was slow at say 2 Mbit/s and the update was 10 GB, that means that your install time will be approximately 12 hours. It doesn't matter how big the game is on disc. It will take 12 hours to install purely down to the internet
connection speed.

Regardless of the disc, what type of game it is, a typical offline install of an Xbox One game should take no more than 20 minutes.

I live in Kansas and all my installs, game discs, game dl's and system updates take forever IMO. Forza horizon 2 dl took 4.5 hours to dl and install, titanfall took 9 hours back in the spring....so I guess it's improving some eh?

I bought the retail disc and I had to jump through 3 days worth of installation BS (Disc dirty/damaged when it was neither) with Xbox and Bethesda Support just to be told to install from the digital store. After 9 hours it was completely installed played
half way through chapter 1 before it said content not available.

The game certainly is on the disc – and it took me less than 45 minutes to install it, day one patch and all. The latter seems to be your problem: The game needs a 9 GB patch, which (obviously) is not on the disc.
