  1. Xbox One in IPv6 only Network

    As I saw from
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/network/hh994905.aspx
the Xbox one is supporting IPV6.

Therefore I was wondering a little bit where to read out its IPv6 ip. I did not found anything in in the settings Menu.

I also was wondering why ipv4 support is not optinal according to: "Xbox One does not support operating on an IPv6-only network because of the need to reliably interoperate with nodes on IPv4-only networks." Source:

    http://download.microsoft.com/download/A/C/4/AC4484B8-AA16-446F-86F8-BDFC498F8732/Xbox%20One%20Technical%20Details.docx

From my point of view the worst thing which can happen is that you cant play with ipv4 gamers from a ipv6 only network so what?! - Even better not playing at all!!

BTW: the chat support was tying to tell me that
    http://technet.microsoft.com
is not a MS side and the Xbox one is not supporting ipv6 at all (I almost want to belive now after I read all the stuff around)

I have a DS-Light connection at home so Im alwas bhind the NAT for ipv4 and I think thats not the best way to have the Xbox connected to the Internet. Also the Xbox shows that im bhind a nat thats true but only for ipv4 a ipv6 device with "full ipv6 support"
should not be hasitated by ipv4 NATs.

    :)

    IPv6

I have issues with IPv6 myself. My ISP has had it for years now and all my devices in my house have a ipv6 and ipv4. all my devices on my network have the ipv6 local link as well as ipv6 address. Whats messed up is my xbox wont use a IPv6 at all yet my ISP
fully supports it and I can even ping or tracert (trace route) to like google.ca and my network uses IPv6 for that.

Where I run into a problem is with my xbox one only. I ping XboxOne on my local network and it pings the IPv6 local-link address without a problem. sometimes IPv6 just randomly shows up in the network settings on xbox after a few minutes and can stay that
way for awhile or sometimes it'll revert back to IPv4. Sometimes when Say a storm knocks out our local internet and I get disconnected from xbox it'll all of a sudden show a IPv6 address remote and local in the network settings. kinda strange. so far xbox
one is the only one that is giving me IPv6 problems

    Native IPv6 Support

    Same question here.

I love my Xbox and the "ipv6 support".

But the required tunneling over ipv4 via teredo is pathetic.

I am on a native ipv6 network. To use party chat I have to leave my ipv6 network and use a virtual ipv4 address, just to use teredo to join the ipv6 network again.

Microsoft; when is native ipv6 support planned for the Xbox one?

    Regards

Xbox One in IPv6 only Network

That indeed a big issue. Looking at your gamertag I think you may be german or at least speak german Xbox One in IPv6 only Network ;)

    1. You may want to take a look on this thread in the german forum's section on this issue:

    forums.xbox.com/.../296.aspx

    2. It seems that (at least in Germany / Europe ) the xbox One is not supporting IPv6 within the LAN. At least there are no options to configure or monitor any IPv6 items at all. Also I tested having only IPv6 working in LAN and the One was not able to obtain
an IPv6 adress at all. I have no clue on the reasons for that.

    3. There are no issues that players on an LAN with IPv4 cannot play with players on an IPv6 connection. You always have to differ between WAN and LAN here. So it doesn't matter at all, what you are using in the LAN as the connection to the servers and also
the other players are done via the WAN where you are connected to via NAT.

    4. The DSLight connection here is a real big problem (Dual Stack Light = not a full implemented IPv4/IPv6 WAN connection). It provides only a IPv6 WAN connection towards your provider and uses an Tunnel to realise the IPv4 connection. As the One uses the
Teredo Tunnel Protocol to tunnel IPv6 data through a given IPv4 connection you get double tunneled. And thats causing big problems. To clarify this picture: you are using an IPv6 connection where an IPv4 connection is tunneled which is tunneleing an IPv6 connection.
Weird, huh?! Thats whats causing problems.

    5. Originally it was said, that the One is working best with IPv6 at all, no matter WAN or LAN. But this is not working for some unknown reasons.

    WHAT IS BEST INTERNET CONNECTION?.

Hello John, this is Manuela!. I'm an Independent Advisor and community user like you, ready to assist with this.

Theoretically, IPv6 is better than IPv4 because IPv6 has more improvements. If your ISP and router supports IPv6 your Xbox is going to use it automatically and the Xbox network is prepared to work with IPv6, if maybe that's not the case you don't need to worry if your Xbox only uses IPv4.

You can learn more about IPv6 on Xbox by visiting the next article:

    IPv4 to IPv6

Most people have a home network behind a router/modem from their provider. The home network is not public at all and the only item with a public IP is the providers equipment; essentially your local demark point to the internet.

What you do inside that private network doesn't really matter.

    IPv6 on Xbox One

Xbox One can connect to networks using two protocols that allow devices to transmit information: the traditional IPv4 communications protocol, and its newer version, IPv6. For Xbox One to connect to the internet using IPv6, your home router needs to have
IPv6 enabled, and your internet service provider (ISP) must support IPv6.

    What’s IPv6?

Internet Protocol version 6 is the most current network protocol, bringing several improvements over IPv4. Most important, IPv6 expands the number of possible IP addresses (the unique numbers that represent every device on the internet). And—most useful
for Xbox—the expansion removes the need for
    Network Address Translation (NAT)
, which can interfere with multiplayer gaming and chat over IPv4 networks.

What if my Xbox One isn’t connected using IPv6?

Your Xbox will work normally without IPv6 connectivity. However, for the best possible experience, we recommend enabling IPv6 on your network. Several Xbox One features already make use of IPv6, and we’re building more.

How can I tell if my Xbox is connected using IPv6?

    Here’s how to check:

    1. On your controller, Press the Xbox button
      to open the guide.
    2. Select System > Settings > Network.
    3. Select Network settings.
If your Xbox One has IPv6 connectivity, your Current Network Status will read
IPv4 & IPv6. (To see your actual IP and gateway addresses, select
    Advanced settings.)

My Xbox is using only IPv4. What should I do to add IPv6?

Several home routers support IPv6 but disable it by default. Check the manual for your router, or visit our
    Networking Hardware Information support forum.

My router has IPv6 enabled, but my Xbox is connected on IPv4. What else can I do?

Try contacting your ISP to see if IPv6 is available in your area.
