Xbox One Idle Data Usage

It has come to my attention that my xbox is wasting data even when idling at the dashboard, with no updates running or chats open.

When playing an MP game, it reports ~200-215kb/s under Network -> Bandwidth Usage. If I go back to the dashboard and manually close the game, the network page still reports 165-180kb/s of continued activity.

Basically, what I want to know is what it's doing, and the address I'm going to need to blacklist to stop it from wasting what little data I have on my plan.

Instant-on is off, and I'm on a tight 18GB data cap. If it's just the useless dashboard ads updating using what amounts to 100MB an hour, then blocking the address should make me able to play more than 2 days a week.

Micro$oft DOES want my money, right? I'm fairly certain they make more $$$ from subscriptions than ad revenue.

Xbox Live usage time for Fortnite

Hi. Does the Xbox Live usage reporting for Fortnite include both idle time and active game time? Or just active game time? With idle time I mean if you're logged in, but not actually playing.

Thanks for posting, and sorry to see the high bandwidth usage! Has your Xbox One's data usage looked accurate after 5/31? This may have been a visual bug, and your Xbox One console most likely has not reached anywhere near 3,600 TB of data usage. The most
reliable tool to check internet usage will be through your ISP. Any bandwidth usage your Xbox One console actually uses will reflect on the ISP side. I would not worry about your Xbox One console using that much data unless your ISP is reflecting the same
amount of usage.

It's hard to really speculate on what's causing the data really. It could be anything from the adverts to your friends list status or the activity feed. What we'd suggest though, is if you're not using the console offline and are on a bandwidth budget. Using
the console in
Offline Mode could greatly help keep things in check. Hope that helps!

I realize there are some apps and things that may update or passively access the internet in the background but those usually do their thing and quit but since the update their is a constant usage of 25+ MB per hour where it used to be in the hundreds
of KB. It was like a switch that was flipped, but according to the update notes I don't see anything that would cause a higher bandwidth draw. Just wondering if there's something I can do to reduce this.

Well, your xbox performs updates to the OS, the apps of the spile, memory levels, etc., even the search without the actual download required data volume. it may also be that, depending on the game, certain game components need to be updated or reloaded.

4 days straight ... that's idle, game, kinect usage every or 10-15 for 3hrs straight, movies.
