    Xbox One home theater question! PLS HELP!!


    So I have a brand new 50' LG TV. I was disappointed to see that it did not have a headphone jack like my older HDTV does. That was how I connected the xbox one to the home theater by using an aux cable that connected to the headphone jack port of the HDTV
    to the AUX port of the home theater system. Now that the LG TV doesn't have a headphone jack, i have problems trying to find a good solution to get it back to how it was again.

    Then I realized that if I buy an optical audio cable (Toslink cable), it will probably fix my problem. However, here is the question I REALLY need to know:

    If I were to connect the Toslink cable from the digital in of the home theater system to the digital out of the LG TV, will the Xbox One's audio also be heard on the home theater system? Since it would be connected via HDMI to the TV and the Toslink
    cable would be connected from the home theater sytem to the TV, then the xbox one's audio should also be heard on the speakers as well right? Or not?

    Vizio Sound Bar w/ Xbox One setup

    Hi,

    I have a couple of suggestions. First I'll post the Xbox support walkthrough for connecting the One to your home theater, there is a specific section for connecting it to a sound bar:

    support.xbox.com/.../connect-console-to-home-theater

    I would also suggest contacting Vizio directly, I bet they get that question a lot and they probably have suggestions to help with the issue you're experiencing.

    I'm not really sure if it'll work or not, and if it'll work, I don't know if you'll get a surround sound. Let me explain. Your Xbox One will send the 5.1 audio stream to your TV via the HDMI cable. Then your TV should send the audio stream to your receiver.
    Even if the optical cable support multichannel audio stream, I don't know if your TV can send the input 5.1 stream to your receiver or if it'll downgrade it to stereo.

    Unfortunately, I think you'll have to try to get a definitive answer.

    The Xbox One does not take that kind of input however it does have an optical port. You'll want to look at the

    home theater setup guide     for further assistance.
