Xbox one headsets

I am looking to buy a wireless headset for my xbox one. I used my sons wireless turtle beach px51's that he uses for his xbox 360 and found the sound quality excellent. Is it worth me buying the xo7's that I have been recommended by the retailer or do
I pay extra for the more expensive ones for xbox 360 and get the chat adapter? Please advise as this is gonna be my first headset and don't want to just waste my money... Many thanks

No one really knows yet, I dont think that any of the stereo headset available - either the official MS one, or either of the Turtle Beach will be as good as a the virtual surround sound options available for previous generations. I have a set of TB Earforce
Deltas and I think I am going to stick with those until something better is released. The only downside is that as well as the cable to the controller they also have a base station thing you have to plug into the console (I am sure your son's PX51s have this).

Yes the stand will be a down side, but if the sound and quality are much better then I'm sure I can put up with it,

As for the sound I keep reading things about updates sorting the surround sound out so that the headsets become "fake" surround sound?

That is a whole can of worms Many say that all headphones are 'fake' or virtial surround sound as you are not surrounded by 5 or 7 speakers, some headphone (I think) have 5 or 7 speakers but they are still all right beside you 2 ears so the effects are
questionable over 'virtual' surround sound.

Anyway, as far as I know the update (which I have) makes it so the optical cable can output surround sound...none of the new headsets for xbox one are connected using the optical cable. Your son's headset will connect by optical cable to the receiver/stand...so
for my money a headset like that will get you the best sound for now. There are rumours that surround sound might be possible at some point in the future through the adapter but I think that is a long way of and/or far fetched, I don't even know if it is
technically possible.

I can understand your frustration with all the bad luck you have been having. And, for the record, I am not part of the Microsoft staff nor an Xbox customer support employee. But, I can say that we have 2 Xbox Ones and 1 Xbox One S, and 2 of the

Xbox One Stereo Headsets. And, both headsets work well, with and without the
Stereo Headset Adapters, on all our Xboxes.

Actually the OP is the one suggesting he wear his XBox One headset at the same time as wearing his Polk headset.

I'm the one suggesting he use his standard headset until they update the XBox ONE to work with the older expensive headsets or until they release new expensive headsets for the ONE.
