XBox One Headset not working

I searched threads hoping I would find answer because I'm sure this has been asked hundreds of times but no luck. I have an XBox One and an XBox One Elite console. My son asked if can buy a new headset because he said the one that came with XBox One no longer
works and hasn't been working since April. I connected the Elite headset to the controller for XBox One remote/console and no sound. I did the SKYPE test call and was able to hear SKYPE but it wasnt recording my message that was supposed to play back to me.
I tested the headsets on the Elite console with SKYPE and they worked. So started the troubleshooting. Got to the section for NAT Type. The XBox One that wasnt working showed NAT Type Moderate. Checked the NAT for the Elite and that showed OPEN. More research
and troubleshooting said that the NAT Type needs to be OPEN. I did every step recommended, reset MAC address on console, reset modem and router, hard reset the XBox One console and nothing changed the NAT Type from MODERATE to OPEN.

Then came across section of trouble shooting for opening PORTS. I have an ASUS TM-AC1900 router. I watched video on how to open ports 53-80-88-500-3074-3544-4500, enabled port forwarding, applied changes and now have NAT Type OPEN for both consoles but still
headset not hearing my voice. Don't know what to do at this point. I called Microsoft and spent about an hour with tech support but everything he had me do I had already done. Do I need to buy a different router? Is there a setting on the router I need to
enable/disable?

Crap, I'm on the same situation. I have been struggling with the mic for some months; I can be heard via Kinect, and through the headset I can hear others. No, it's not muted, neither in the headset button nor in the group chat app. The circle around my
profile image is simply not getting illuminated. I have bought new headset, have tried other controllers, no solution. Have tried in other console and there, it works. So the xbox support team says is my internet company, that I must have all the ports opened,
so I call the internet and they say they haven't change anything, that all my ports are opened, and we checked... So, the summer update *** my playing

 

Btw, I also made the console reset, the controller update, the mac adress change, and opened MAC.

it seems like a cop out by Microsoft again. i have had this problem with my sons x box one for some time now he has bought 4 headsets in total this ain't right come on Microsoft fix the bug in the system
