Xbox One headset not working (Stock Headset)

The headset I got with my Xbox isn't working, I've had this Xbox since Christmas and discovered that it didn't work, but it's come to a point where I REALLY need it to.

First of all, I don't know if I'm doing anything wrong.

I take the headset, plug it into the controller, through the headset adapter, that's it right?

I'm using my main computer monitor as my TV for my Xbox, it's simply running off the HDMI that came with the Xbox (Not sure if this would make a difference)

I told one of my friends about this, and he invited me to a party and they couldn't hear me speak, and I couldn't hear them. I sat there for 5 minutes and I've been hitting the volume up button (It isn't on mute I already checked) And for some reason, I
can hear the little ding, ring, beep, sound whatever you want to call it, that occurs when you turn up or down the volume, so I'm at a total stand-still here, any help?

Mic problems on my brand new Xbox One

Second Broken Headset in a Year

Aside from the stock headset that comes with the Xbox One, I have bought three more since then. Recently I bought two headsets (the same one that comes with the Xbox) within the last 8 months. There is no damage done to the headsets and I can send pictures
of all three to prove it. The problem in my newest headset is that I have lost audio while using the headset. The microphone did not work in my other one, and the one I bought two years ago stopped working all together (but I'm not complaining about that one).
I have spent well over 60 dollars on these headsets and was wondering what I could do to get some money back, a new headset, or at least a coupon for a new headset. I would appreciate a timely response to this post.

You're using the stock headset that came with your Xbox One bundle?

That mono headset only inputs and outputs game and party chat on the Xbox One. You wouldn't be able to hear TV sound with that.

I have had the same issue recently. My stock headset still seems to be working fine, but NO THIRD PARTY HEADSET WORKS. Let me re-phrase that. I can usually hear others in the ear piece, but the mic is not working at all. This is the case regardless of what
controller I plug it into, and regardless of whether I plug it in directly via 3.5mm jack or via the headset adapter. The headset (in this case Turtle Beach Recon 30x) and mic work fine if, say, I plug it into my phone to use. However, mic is non-functioning
on the Xbox One. I can hear and chat via Kinect just fine (though quality is terrible). And like I said I can still use the stock headset. In trying to troubleshoot with Turtle Beach, they said there have been reported issues with the New Xbox One Experience
dashboard and third party headsets. Yet another bug in the NXOE! Judas Priest it has been a horrible experience.

Anyway, I am about to return this headset, not because it is nonfunctioning, but rather that the Xbox One is nonfunctioning with IT.

Any ideas, folks?

Finally got a mic to work after four months, I fixed my problem by buying a new controller and headphone set .

It looks like the stock controller for the Xbox one had problems updating because as soon as I connected my new controller I had to update and it worked and i was able to hear and speak to people .

I tried all the steps below before buying the new controller and headset and they did not work, i believe it was because there was no update for my old stock controller or there was a problem updating it .

This is what I did :

1. Turned off the Xbox one by unplugging it from the wall .

2. Removed all parts of the charge and play kit out of the stock controller and put them into the new controller .

3. Connected the Xbox one back into the wall and switched it on .

4. Then updated the new controller .

5. Connected the new headset to the new controller and started up Call of Duty Black ops 3 .

The new controller I bought had the new 3.5mm connection, where as the old controller was stock and did not,

I think this might also be part of the problem .
