Xbox One headset microphone doesn't work

I muted myself when I was in a party with friends( on the controller), then when I still was muted I turned my Xbox one off. now the microphone doesnt work anymore, I can turn up and down the volume from the party, that still works and the mute light still
works but my friends can't hear me. it's the standard mic from xbox. I got my Xbox a year ago. what can I do? I tried turning off the xbox/controller, doesn't work either.

Sony MDR-IRBT Headphones

Is the microphone for this headset in-line (on the actual headset cable)? I know for other headsets this means the microphone won't work for the Xbox One.

Headset not working

Xbox one headset not working, i can hear but the microphone is not sending signal when fully connected to the controller. Only works when I have it half connected.

I just power cycled the xbox, updated controller + headset, usb connection, doesn't work, kinect works fine.

same problem here 1minute it worked the next it didnt. its like it just expired.

Right, I've done the soft reset, been through the manual changes andits EXACTLY as before, ie:

- Plug the headset into one controller and the headset symbol appears and the microphone works (so tells me the microphone is fine as it works.

- However unplu the microphone and plug it into the second controller and the second controller doesn't see its been plugged in so the muted symbol remains.

This rules out the need to try another headset IMO.

So, please advise exactly what you mean by a headset adapter as the ones I've seen are designed for the XBox 360 controller that
doesn't have the headphone mic jack port on the bottom left hand side.

Does the headset work on Xbox One Party chat (i.e. do you see a circle around your gamerpic in the party chat on Xbox One)?

Are only Backwards compatible games affected? If so, it might be that the Astro A50 base station acts as a USB microphone, which doesn't work as Chat microphone on the Xbox 360.

You might have to contact the Astro A50 support for information on how to use that headset on backwards compatible titles.

Yeah it works on the Xbox One party chat but yeah that's what i was thinking i might just have to get a old Xbox One chat headset for it to work.
