Xbox One Headset Issue

    Xbox One Headset Issue


    Recently it seems the earpiece of my headset is broken. No idea how it happened, there are no breaks, no tears in the cord, no big drops or impact possibilities.

    In a game like, say, Destiny. If I plug the headset in and talk, I can see the icon at the bottom of the screen showing I am talking. Other members of my Fireteam can hear me. If they talk, though, I see their name on the bottom of the screen indicating
    they are talking, but I don't hear them.

    In a party chat, if I talk, my blue ring lights up as I talk, indicating the headset is picking up my voice. But again, I hear nothing.

    All of my Kinect voice chat settings are good. This just started happening Saturday out of the blue. When I plug the headset in, I can hit mute and get the mute light to come on, but I also hear nothing when I turn the volume up and down, another indication
    imho that the earpiece is broken.

    Headset Issue ( Xbox One )

    Ok, try holding the power button on the console for 10 seconds until it shuts down. See if that fixes it.

    Thanks for reaching out. I'm sorry to hear about the issue with the headset and the mute icon on the home screen on the Xbox.

    I recommend to take a look at the following articles:


    If the issue persists, try the Microsoft Headset Adapter to help make the 3rd party headset compatible with the Xbox One. Currently our team is working on a fix to help align 3rd party headsets.

    Third party companies produce headsets for Xbox one if the headset is a third party product you would have to contact that company for warranty issues. Only if the headset is an actual xbox produced item would it be an xbox issue.

    I recommend taking a look at the following troubleshooting articles:




    If the problem persists:

    • Try your Headset with another device, such as a laptop, to see if the headset is working.
    • Try using a Headset Adapter for compatibility issues.
    • Try your Headset on another controller, if you can. If the headset works on the second controller, try
      updating the first controlleragain.

    Try this out and let us know the results.
