Xbox one headset for media room

We just moved to a new house with a media room. This means the Xbox One sits in a media closet and is about 25 feet away from the chairs the boys sit in to play Xbox games. What kind of a headset do I need to get to allow them to play games online with
their friends? Also, I know this is old school, but I would really rather NOT have them wearing a
wireless headset for hours. Is there any way to have a REALLY LONG wired headset?

Optical setting are not taking. No sound from receiver. Sound is not on mute.

Need some help, so I can get sound. I will not be using a headset. I will use this new game system in my media room

 

What Games and/or Accessories Do You Currently Have for XBOX ONE?

I pretty much have every Xbox One game, 4 controllers, Xbox One stereo headset, and a media remote.

 

Is there a reason you HAVE to use the media closet?

 

The only headset you need is the one that came in the box and it plugs into the controller. If you're wanting a surround sound or stereo headset like the astro a40 or something similar you'd just need a long optical cable.

 

That's odd. I remember the initial post being about how the OP would get the Kinect to work since the cord wouldn't be long enough to go to the front of the room... Did you edit your post, OP?

 

All other equipment is in the media room closet, which is inside the media room. Thus the xbox is plugged into everything else in that closet.

 

I posted 2 separate questions on this forum... one about how to use a headset within a large media room when the equipment is inside a closet inside the media room and the 2nd question was about how to use a Kinect in the same environment.

Basically, both questions are about how to use the accessories for an xbox when the xbox is inside a media room closet which sits inside a large media room

you can use the standard headsets from MS - they just plug into the controller

 

@ iBakez and Pick 34, So sorry as I now see that you both told me that the headset plugs into the controller vs the box. I didn't realize this. Obviously we are new to the world of xbox!!

I still think my question still stands though - do you have to use the closet? Why not just put everything somewhere else and use it as a linen closet or something (for the record, this IS a genuine question, as I have never knowingly seen a "media" room
before that comes with one of these closet spaces)?

 

the house we bought has a full media room (not a TV room) and has a closet in it that is dedicated to all of the wifi, security etc wiring for the house. It was built to hold everything to run the media room as well as the rest of the technology in the
house.
