    Xbox one headset adapter suddenly not working.


    Yesterday i was gaming, when suddenly my mic adapter stopped working, the headphones work perfectly fine, and i know its the adapter because when i press the mute button the light doesn't light up, and it also doesn't work with other headphones. I don't
    know why it did this, this is the second time the same problem has happened. I will just be gaming like always then out of nowhere it just doesn't work. I have tried updating the controller with the adapter in, turning the controller on, then off, unplugging
    the adapter, and even restarting my xbox but nothing works! I have't done anything that would break the adapter, so I don't see why it would just suddenly break!

    I just spent an hour on the phone with Xbox Technical Support for them to tell me that now I need to purchase a $40 adapter to use with my headset (which I've successfully been using since December). I tried explaining that the headset which has suddenly
    stopped working with Xbox is not the problem (I tested the headset on another device to ensure that I'm able to get sound) and that it's a possible Xbox software issue. He insisted that I need to now purchase the $40 adapter.

    I'm now having Xbox One X buyers remorse.
    The adapter bypasses the 3.5mm input on your controller which may be faulty.

    Did the new headset include a different adapter? Could you try the headset (either one, or, preferably, both) with the new adapter, if you didn't already? (Or if you already had a spare, use that - you said the first headset was also a replacement, so maybe
    you have a spare adapter already?)

    It could simply be the adapter. I had a very similar experience a month back and went a little crazy before I found a spare adapter and suddenly everything worked again.

    Since third-party products didn't work. I would highly advice that you get the Xbox One Headset Adapter instead. This will be a one time cost but should definitely work.

    We have two of the
    Xbox Stereo Headset     with Xbox One Stereo Headset Adapter, and both sets have worked well with no problems for sometime now. And I have used the
    adapter with non-Microsoft headset with no issues. So, given that you say your "3.5 mm cabled headset " works directly connected to the controller, then I regret to say it would seem that the fault lies with the adapter itself and may need to be replace.
