Xbox One Headset adapter - can I just use it get in-game audio from headphones plugged into my ...

    Hello everybody,

I just purchased my Xbox One 2 days ago and was under the impression that I could get in-game audio (i.e; guns firing, engine revs, explosions, cut-scene dialogue, sound etc etc) streamed from the console, to the wireless controller and through a headset
    plugged into it.

The console bundle I have came with a chat headset, which appears to only work for in-game chat - and
    does not play in-game audio.

I've been trying to find out about the Xbox One Headset Adapter - but don't understand if I can just use this to to get all the gun-fire, explosions, music, the game I'm running is generated if I use it or not....

I've looked online, and seen mixed answers some people say "Yes", other people "No". I've asked in the GAME Store was told; "No" and that to get in-game audio I would have to plug my headphones directly into the TV phono-jack - please can somebody enlighten
    me and give me a straight answer to this question - i.e;

Will I be able to hear my **** rifle firing bullets in Halo if I buy this and plug it into my wireless controller, and connect some headphones or not?

Many thanks in advance for help and answers recieved to do with this!

    :)

new XB1 controller on PC - no audio

    hello folks,

I've got quite a difficult one that I can't seem to solve:

    - have new Xbox One controller with integrated headphone jack (3.5mm)

    - have new Microsoft Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows 10

    - have Microsoft Xbox Stereo Headet

    - have Microsoft Stereo Headset adapter

Running Windows 10 (all available updates installed, build 1511 - november update).

Controller firmware updated as of November 28th.

I connect the wireless adapter to USB, power on the new controller and pair successfully. The controller works with games, all buttons working, very little lag. So far so good. When I connect the stereo headset to the controller, my windows volume control
shows "Headphones (USB Audio Device)" but I can't hear anything. I thought maybe it doesn't work wirelessly, so I unplugged the wireless adapter and connected my new controller via USB. The same thing happens, no sound.

I unplugged my headset from the new controller, I plugged in the stereo headset adapter into the new controller, I plugged in my headset into the adapter. In Windows sound settings, I see "Headphones (USB Audio Device) - 2" but now the sound works! So I
unplug the controller from USB and pair it again with my Windows 10 Wireless adapter. The audio works, as long as the headset adapter is connected to the controller. The built-in headphone jack on the new controller doesn't produce sound.

I checked the forums before posting and others are stating they are having issues but they can get the sound to work. Any suggestions?

  3. Headset/chat question that needs answering

I have a Tritton AX 720 headset that I use for my Xbox One (plugged into the rear optical audio port). However, to receive chat audio that will allow me to talk too, it needs to be plugged into the controller via a cable.

My question is: if I get the Xbox One stereo headset adapter and connect the headset to it, will I still be able to get game audio via the optical cable? Or will it be forced into stereo mode because it's plugged into the adapter?

    Thanks in advance.

Mr Boozyhead - I was just planning on using a set of headphones I use to listen to music with (Bose Noise Cancelling QC15's - so not a game specific headset) - the cable has a built in mic I can use with my iPhone (but I'm not worried using the headphones
for chat, just getting game audio without having to plug directly into TV phono port...)

Just can't seem get a straight answer as to if the adapter just outputs online chat or game audio as well...

Just plugged some headphones into my chat adaptor to check for you and it works a charm, just make sure you push the game pad icon button on the top left of the adaptor to make the sound come through.

XBOX One Chat Adapter & Turtle Beach Issue

The chat adapter pulls game audio and chat to the headphons. I'm using a pair of Bose headphones with an inline mic. Works a charm with headset adapter. No wire to console. Its wireless. Just plug the 4pole 3.5mm plug into adapter, and I get game audio and
chat. If you dont believe me, do some research.

Can I use a Xbox one sterio headset with a DVI converter?

    Hi Legend of RDG

    If I understand your question...

Q: If you buy the Stereo Adapter, will this allow you to hear sound.

A: Yes, the stereo adapter will allow you to plug in headphones to hear sound. I omitted the headset that comes with the adapter just in case you already have headphones.

(The Xbox One Stereo Headset Adapter lets you plug a compatible chat or stereo headset into the Xbox One Controller to control your audio experience without taking your hands off the controller.)

    Source:
    support.xbox.com/.../stereo-headset-adapter

The adapter will work with many existing headphones, but you can opt to buy the Xbox Headphones (w/Mic) and adapter too

Xbox One controller support to listen to audio exclusively

Yeah just get the chat adapter and plug any headphones with the standard 3.5mm stereo jack and your good to go. Just set the balance on the chat adapter to full game/system audio and your good to go for wireless audio from your controller like the Ruku remote
does. $25 for the adapter, but if you get one of the headsets designed as a wireless headset through the controller for the Xbox One they all come with the chat adapter as well.

Headset Adapter and Beats Studio Headset

Same issue with iPhone headset. Audio works great, in party chat, others here high pitch whistle. While less than desirable, it may be that the adapter is not designed to work with inline mic's. Look at the last item in the list below. "Any 3.5mm stereo
headset (that uses the CTIA plug standard) can get stereo game audio by plugging into the adapter"

I hope that the headset can work.

    From XBOX.COM Headset Adapter page:

    For game audio:

    - Legacy gaming headsets get game audio from the back of the console from the S/PDIF port or from your TV/receiver with RCA cables. Get chat audio by connecting the 2.5mm chat cable to the adapter

    - New Xbox One headsets – get chat and stereo directly from the adapter. No need to connect anything to the console

    - Any 3.5mm stereo headset (that uses the CTIA plug standard) can get stereo game audio by plugging into the adapter

Audio on both Headset and TV Speakers

    Hello Viking!

I can tell you from personal experience using everything from the xbox issued headsets to my current Astro's, the tv will never mute when you plug in your headphones to the controller.

Here is guide for headphone setup:

    https://support.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-one/accessories/connect-compatible-headset

    and other options here: https://support.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-one/accessories/stereo-headset-set-up-troubleshoot

    Notes

    • You might also have game audio coming from your TV. If you don’t want to hear the TV, simply turn down the volume on your TV. (When you plug a headset into the adapter on your controller, sound from the TV is not automatically muted or adjusted.)
    • When you plug a compatible headset into your Xbox One Wireless controller, chat audio through Kinect is automatically muted.
I also hear audio through my TV

The Stereo Headset Adapter doesn’t know if you’re using your headset just for chat or for all audio, so TV audio is not automatically muted when you’re using the adapter. You must manually adjust your
    TV audio volume.

    Hope this helps!
