    XBox One HDMI ?

Currently, my cable box is not connected to my XBox One. The console is directly connected to my TV. I was considering plugging in my cable box into the XBox One but my experience with Google TV, which had so many issues, compelled me to bypass this option.
It was not really a concern previously because I did not use the console much until now. Destiny, although I think it has major drawbacks, has got me addicted. So I was assuming I can snap TV while games are loading. I hope this is right.

But my main concern is can I somehow make a dual connection from my cable box to my receiver and Xbox? To watch tv I don't want to be required to turn on my Xbox one. I was wondering if there is a y-cable for hdmi where the cable signal flows through both
connections at the same time. I know I can buy an HDMI switch but using it wouldn't be optimal. I have a 3 port hdmi switch from monoprice already. But I would rather just use my TV, XBox One, and receiver (Sony STR DG910). Is there any way I can accomplish
what I want by using the 3 pieces of equipment that I mentioned (without using a switch)?

    Any help would be appreciated

    :)

Removing the Xbox One eliminates the issue, and swapping HDMI cables into and out of the Xbox One does nothing. Signal loss is basically permanent now.

HDMI cable from Xbox One to receiver is the one provided with Xbox One, all other HDMI are insignia highspeed HDMI.

I did some of my own investigating.

For those with with Home Theatres with HDMI

Cable Box HDMI Out to Xbox One HDMI In

Xbox One HDMI Out to Home Theatre HDMI In

Home Theatre HDMI Out to HDTV In

    .

If using optical audio for sound, connect the toslink from the Xbox One to the HT.

Yes something like that, but reviews are really bad. Specifically, it only splits the picture and does not provide sound according to a review. Have you tried it? Perhaps it's not as bad as the reviews states?

I haven't tried one myself buddy, no. I'd do a bit of research into it before buying just to see if they are any good and what ones are the best to buy.

I wish you luck in finding what you're after XBox One HDMI ? :)

Made a mistake in my op. I listed an old receiver. I swapped that one out with a sony str dn1040 last year. This receiver has two hdmi outputs. I'm really not familiar with the functions of the second output at this time. I don't know if the second
hdmi output mirrors the first hdmi output, meaning that both outputs show the same thing on two displays. Or if it has discrete transmissions, meaning two displays can show different inputs. For example, one display shows my ps4 and the other display shows
my Xbox one. I don't even know if the latter is possible. But if the latter is the case, I can use the second hdmi output into the Xbox one hdmi input and have it on my cable box at all times.

    Any thoughts

I'm going to study the manual tomorrow

The Xbox One X is the only console that has HDMI 2.1. Xbox One S has HDMI 2.0.
The Xbox One S and One X both use HDMI 2.0,

The Xbox One uses HDMI 1.4

The Series X will have HDMI 2.1.

What HDMI input do I connect the Xbox One X?

Hi, on the Xbox One X as with all of the Xbox One range, there are two HDMI connections. One is an HDMI-Out and one is an HDMI-In. You will see next the HDMI connector a label describing what HDMI it is. You connect the included 4K HDMI cable to the HDMI-Out
to display the console on your TV. The HDMI-In is optional. It can be used to connect a Cable or Satellite receiver to your console.

This guide will help you further.

Xbox One and Digital TV Question

    Hello C0nd1t10nR3D,

How the Xbox One works with being able to control the TV is that the Xbox One has a HDMI In port and a HDMI Out port. If a person had a cable set-top box, they would take the HDMI cable from that and plug it into the HDMI In port on the Xbox One, and then
connect an HDMI cable to the HDMI Out port and connect that to the TV.

In your case, I think it could only work if your TV had both a HDMI Out port and a HDMI In port. If this is the case, which I don't ever think I've heard of a thing for just a TV (I guess it could be possible), then you would go from the TV's HDMI Out port
to the Xbox One's HDMI In port and from the Xbox One's HDMI Out port to the TV's HDMI In port.

I hope I have answered your question!
