Sorry I misspoke above and IceStorm III is correct in that manufacturers cannot use any reference to version number in labeling any equipment, cables or otherwise. They must use the feature set in order to describe the compliance of the device. See

    www.hdmi.org/.../trademark_logo_pub.aspx
    for details.

The cables are all compatible as there isn't any such thing as a 1.3 version cable any more than there is a 1.4 or 2.0 version cable, just High Speed and Standard. They may be labeled that way by the vendor but that doesn't comply with the certification
process as it currently exists within HDMI.org. The chip set built into the device (TV or player or receiver) controls the features that the cable passes. The only exception would be the Ethernet option that to date no manufacturer has supported, but the cable
does. The cable is just passive and doesn't know or care what version of HDMI comes through it.

That is exactly why the version numbers were removed, to keep unscrupulous vendors from selling you an "upgrade" when there isn't any reason to do so.

Thanks D33dles, I'll look at that. I agree, your shades are cooler than my glasses LOL

I found some instances of 1080i 3D via 1.3 in some Mitsubishi TVs that display the checkerboard format used for 3D as opposed to the frame packed version that is on Blu-ray and needs 1.4 to work

I see farther down the page that D33dles linked to, it says 1.3 version cables work with 1.4 except for the Ethernet channel. Since no one has ever released any equipment that utilizes that feature, no loss there.

Spoke to Microsoft tech agent personally. Official response is that the XB1 supports HDMI 2.0 and the HDMI cable supplied is 2.0 which also supports 4k ultra technology if they ever drop the software to utilize it.

Eh, an agent can tell you whatever they want. That doesn't make it true.

HDMI version numbers were done away with on equipment in 2012. Now the focus is on feature set. There is no indication that Xbox One supports HDMI 2.0's full feature set.

HDMI Cabling version numbers were done away with late 2009 or so. There are two Categories that cables fall into - Category 1, or Standard, and Category 2, or High Speed. Don't bother with Category 1 cabling as the price difference between Category 1 and
    Category 2 is negligible.

I'm not sure why this topic keeps popping up. If there's a compatibility issue being observed, Support is the correct place to post about it. Otherwise, HDMI is HDMI and things should "just work".

  6. Hello everyone XBOX ONE HDMI version :)

    I'm confused...

I don't know what kind of HDMI Cables my Xbox 360 is using, but it allows my 40 inch HDTV to display games at 1080p. Does that mean that I have to buy a new HDMI Cable when I pick-up my Xbox One?

Thank you very much for your assistance regarding this matter, I really appreciate it XBOX ONE HDMI version :)

Have a nice day or afternoon or night everyone XBOX ONE HDMI version :)

The HDMI consortium technically did away with version numbers on consumer equipment. Not all features of all HDMI revisions must be supported on all devices. Conversely, things can be added to an existing product (like 3D on the 360) that didn't exist when
a product originally hits the market.

Pretty sure a high speed 1.3 doesn't support 3D though, so wouldn't the categories be necessary in this regard? Technically they still exist in the industry if only to give people an idea of what that particular cable does.

With that said I can see why they would do away with it all with companies trying to play a customer into buying expensive cables they simply didn't need.
