  1. Xbox One HDD failure?

Hey all, so I'm having a bunch of issues with my Xbox one. It all started about 6 months ago, just 25 days outside of my warranty, it froze while playing a new game, I believe it was the witcher 3, so I waited 10-20 minutes to see if the problem would resolve
itself, it didn't. I ended up doing a hard restart, wait 30 seconds for the power brick to turn orange, staRt it back up and it was at this point my Xbox started to make some sort of ticking noise, reminding me of a fried hardrive. So I went through the process
of hard restarting, Power swapping, three button reset. Eventually it would turn on, get stuck on the green screen, restart it again and it would start up fine (still ticking) once I got it to turn on I left it on for about a month, it worked fine for literally
four months, even turning it on and off everyday. Fast forward to present day, it's doing the same thing after installing and playing the division, for about 10 hours total (not in one sitting) doing the same routine to get it to turn on, occasionally gettin
e200 and e203 error codes, it worked for about three days leaving it on, played the division for about two hours and the ticking started and game froze, got it to turn back on again, watched Hulu for the night and so far no issues, but I have a feeling when
I start playing division again it will start freezing. i spoke to support when this started happening six months ago and they said to turn it in and they'll replace it ( for 115$). I really rather not do that, so here I am trying to get some advice from the
community before I eventually send it in. Keep in mind if reset the system multiple times, uninstalled and reinstalled games, I think I e done everything short of getting a new HDD and formatting it for the xb1. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

    :)

    External hard drive choices

Ok so are you better off with a plugged in HDD or just connected to the Xbox One?

    Huge bootup error

the ticking can be one of 2 things.

    Fan failure

    HDD failure

may have to book in for repair.

My console got 1 red ring but it works now

E68 is related to HDD failure, not console failure.

You could look into a replacement HDD, though if you have a pre-Jasper console a new console is probably a better idea.

    320gb HD keeps unformatting itself.

I think it would be wise to get a new HDD, this one maybe dieing...Transfer all your data to the new one and move on. I'd hate to see a complete HDD failure in this case. GOOD LUCK!!!

    HDD failure

    Hi Cerealbox,

Really sorry to hear you were unable to save the data from your old drive.

Sometimes when hard drives fail you can recover the data but it is not always possible.

    HDD failure

I have a transfer cable but haven't picked up a new HDD yet. It will boot with the drive on but it takes about 3 minutes and it doesn't recognize any of the content, but does recognize there is content on it. If it won't transfer with the cable, I'll try
with my laptop. Not really worried about warranty. I just want my saves back.
