Xbox One HDCP Error

What is the model of your TV? The Xbox One S/X requires an HDCP 2.2-compliant display in order to play 4K movies. An HDCP error on the Xbox One may indicate that your TV is not compliant with HDCP 2.2, or
it's at least not enabled over the specific HDMI input.

You can buy a splitter to ignore/bypass HDCP requests, but I do not know how well that works.

Hello Misses Joust, i'd like to know with the Xbox One coming out in 2 weeks time - what will happen if you don't have a HDCP compliant tv/monitor? Also what if this weird HDCP error occurs for no reason on HDCP compliant tv's and monitors again like with
many of ours here? Essentially we won't be able to use the apps as it will be HDMI only. A lot of people will have displays that aren't HDCP compliant so they'd have to go out and buy a new display in order to use the apps which they shouldn't have to.

I just want to know if it's worth buying Xbox One if this can happen again as there is no way to get the apps to work with this error message coming up without switching to component cables - but the Xbox One won't have that, it'll only have HDMI. What happens
then?

HDCP stands for High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection, and it's a security feature that prevents unauthorized copying of digital content. It needs to be functioning on both the console and the display your console is connected to in order to work.

What is your TV make and model and does it support HDCP?

Usually with HDMI-to-"X" converters, you may encounter problems with HDCP causing blank or flickering screens. This is because these adapters may not support the decoding of HDCP, or may only support an outdated version of HDCP. I think the Xbox One uses
HDCP 2.2.

Definitely look for reviews about experiences specifically with Xbox One so you'll have an idea of what to expect.
